Because of their smug superior attitude, belittling us when we put in a perfectly reasonable bid. I don't mind if they think we haven't bid enough, or they want more. I just find the "he won't go to a ****ty little club like Hull City" attitude irritating.
My point is they may be a big club, but they play in a small league. If Hooper wants to improve his chances of an international call up he needs to play against better opposition. We can offer that. If he goes to Man U he'll warm the bench. We can virtually guarantee first team football.
On balance I think we offer more than Celtic do. And we'll give them money.$$$

I see celtic have had their 2nd game of the season postponed so they can go to Dublin and play a friendly against Liverpool. Madness.

Again with the arrogance, you seem to think a player should want to move to you becuase you get to play Chelsea? nobody cares about that in the real world outside the bubble that is Englsih Football.

That's the same as the Celtic fan's argument that he'll get CL football there. He'll play around 5 or 6 CL quality teams in a EPL season, so around 10-12 CL quality games a season.
What's the English season have to do with the Scottish one? Each team gets to postpone one game because of us? Why? (genuine question btw, not trolling, I'm actually curious).
I don't understand why a team that will supposedly play a whole set of league games, plus almost certainly play every game in all cups available domestically in Scotland, plus the few CL games they'll play but then shoe horn a friendly in Ireland against an English team and piss off the team they're meant to be playing. I think we agree there isn't any competitive games for them in Scotland, but that's just taking the piss surely?

You seem to be bound up with this expression. There is no arrogance involved. Hooper has expressed a desire to force his way into contention in his national side. Very laudable, and something I would expect most Scottish players to do. Surely you can see that he would be able to showcase his talents better playing against Chelsea, Man. U. Man City, etc. week in week out rather than against Ross County or Inverness Caly?
I fully accept that Celtic are a good team, probably better than Hull City (which is why we are trying to buy one of your players - to improve our team), but your regular opposition is poor. Not your fault perhaps, but still a fact of life.
Dump the chip on your shoulder and give a reasoned argument as to why Hooper should stay, after all there are certain advantages to him in staying with you, and we'll listen and debate the points with you. Simply squealing "English Arrogance" every time we comment (on our board) about a Scottish player just makes you look silly.
Would you accept it as Scottish Arrogance if someone said your Whisky was better than Japanese Whisky? No, you would point at all its advantages, and you'd be right. That's not arrogance, it's simply a matter of being right.

Celtic are a great club, with fine traditions and a rich history, but they play in a very weak league. I don't see how you can escape that. Feel free to give me cogent reasons, but just arguing that it is our "arrogance" is a bit lame. I'd be saying it if he played in Ireland or Australia, but not if he played in Spain or Germany.
Not really arrogance, an ambitious player should want to test himself against some of the best players in the world for a full season, rather than just the odd Champions League game.
Hooper's made clear his desire to be an England player, the easiest way to make that happen is to prove himself in the Premier League and that's obviously what he wants to do. Even a lower Premier League team will give him the exposure he needs and put him in the shop window.

Maybe the thought of further quality games in the SPL mickey mouse league. Game 2 is against Aberdeen and game 3 against another SPL super power Inverness CT.

Scoring goals for Hull City would be very high profile. In saying that look at Ricky Lambert. Joint top English PL goal scorer with Frank Lampard last season and yet he could not get a call up to England for the 2 meaningless games with ROI and Brazil.
I was just saying English league as a comaprison to league start dates nothing more. Now due to our league starting earlier it kind of hampers our chances for big money freindlies against big clubs. Now these one games are worth more in revenue than winning the SPl. Thats a harsh truth, So the SPL/SFA agreed that if a freindly was going to be arranged with a club in August but once the league had started you could have the option to prostpone one game to accomadate that freindly. Some clubs rely heavily on these freindlies to stay alive am afraid, a bit to much. Hibs played Barca a few seasons ago and that one game generated 2 seasons worth of revenue for them. I not sure many of you know how little revenue there is in ther Scottish game. They are prostpnoned becusae of the revenue stream these games bring to the Scottish teams which is badly needed. We can't start the league later becuase of the winters we get and the back log of games we need to accomodate from them being prostponed. So its better to prostpone one game in August, than 4-6 in January. So basically its to do with out winters and revenue.
The amount of clubs that take it up depend on whats available it differs every season, but i'd say every SPL club has taken it up at one point or another, although not every season.

Right i'm not going to argue any of your points, becuase most are right but you missed what the OP said, hes cleary trying to say Hooper should move to Hull becuase playing Chelsea is a bigger draw than playing for a club with Rich History, wins trophies and plays against Europes Elite, will he get any of that at Hull? no disrespect to hull but its a fact. You can offer the EPl and money, personally i don't think playing for Hull will further his chances with England. If it was any other nation in the world and their player was playing in the EPl for hull he would be in with a right good chance, but England will pick a mediocre player who sits on the bench for a big club before they pick a good player playing for a lesser team (one of the reasons you will never win a tournament). So why would he want to play for Hull? Hes looking for an England call up and he has to look at it like that, will hull further his chances? a little probably, but realalistically? a team who has just been promoted and might not get off to a good start in the EPl could put a nail in the coffin to his England call up. I think he'll be holding out for a club like Fulham or Everton. So yes it is arrogant to use Hulls first game as a comparison to Celtics first game in the assumption thats why Hooper wants to move, its not its to further his England chances. If he goes to use then good luck to him he will give you good options up front, but i think Hooper persoanlly will be holding out for a more established EPL club.
You'd be surprisd at the amount of players in the Scotland team who actaully play in Scotland, if we look at the last squad who beat Croatia, 9 play in Scotland, anohter 9 started their international careers while playing in Scotland and if you include Players for cardiff City only 8 play in the EPL would be 6 without them. Obviously thats the last squad and didn't include Darren or Steven Fletcher, it also didn't Include Celtic players like Brown, Forrest and Mulgrew or Dundee UTD Lee Dixon. Scotland has the players to compete (not qualifiy, compete), its just out last manager was an idiot who didn't know the meaning of attack, and would have his favourites who he would pick regardless if the had played in the last 6 months or not. Best not getting me started on him
Celtic have a Friendly game @ home to Liverpool on august 10th a week after that mouth watering SPL opener against Ross County. What other league has a friendly game in-be-tween league matches ffs ?
