You develop far better when playing proper matches.
Agreed, only if those matches are at the right level.
Take a player from your local Saturday league A team and play then for 6 months in a League D team. Their standards will drop.

My point is that he shouldn't be sat in the stands every week. He should be on the bench at least. I saw enough in him to know that he can play well at this level. If anyone is unsure, they should ask Sir Alex and his multi-million pound midfield.
As for beefing him up, that's an English disease thing (don't get me started) ... does Messi need beefing up?

I completely agree with you FLT ... he should be playing for us, but with another CM coming in, already with Cork/Schneiderlin/Davis you'd have to assume there would be limited opportunities for him.
JWP would be at a good level in the Champ to improve his ability.
I don't think a loan to Bournemouth would necessarily be a bad thing. Ferguson had no problem loaning out someone like Beckham to Preston. It's a bit disrespectful to Bournemouth to automatically assume their training would ruin him.
I'd personally rather have JWP, maybe not as ready but with vast potential, as back up then Steve 'The Crab' Davis.
Exactly. Man Utd, after developing some of the best players to have played in England, often loaned out their youngsters to "less fashionable" teams, did them no harm.
What's your beef with Davis? For the most part he put in some solid performances.

I hope so. I'd just worry that he'd then slip away when his ability and potential is there, right in font of our noses.

Probably the same beef he had with Martin![]()

I think it's probably different. Aaron Martin was ****, Steve Davis is just not much more than solid.
No beef, just don't think he fits into our system. Very good midfielder in a 442 formation, but in our 4-2-3-1 I feel he is not strong enough defesnively to play as one of the 2 'pivot-men' and lacks flair and creativity to play the CAM role.
You obviously dont appreciate the work Davis does, he uses the ball fantastically well, always maintains possession and has scored.
Absolutely. I do rate Davis as a lower level Premiership midfielder, but as they are both likely to be back up, would rather have JWP as that, then Davis, who's ceiling is far lower than Prowseys!
