Declan rudd signs extension and goes on loan to preston for the year. Hope that doesn't mean steer's off as I think steer's a better prospect. Good to keep onto talent though.
It certainly looks like the board have got their cheque books out this season. We are more active earlier on this summer than I can remember for a long time. In seasons past we have waited to get a bargain at the end but we are really doing the running this season and putting our money where are mouth is. I like the look of Toivenen and would love to see him in a city shirt linking up with RvW and Holty, can't wait for next season! Agree about Naughton looked class for us when we had him before, I would like to sign him on permanent deal though.
from what i gather, young jed would like to leave the club. obviously we aren't keen for that to happen and it's not a forgone conclusion that he'll leave but i think he's had his head turned by a certain former employee agree with kemp about naughton - i think if we want him and he wants to come here, lets make it permanent.
I'd be surprised if Naughton was available on loan again, to be honest. I'd expect him to either stay as back-up, which he won't like, or be sold. He's 24 now, so I can't really see the value of sending him out on loan.
Slightly disappointed about Jed Steer if he does leave but we have been incredibly lucky with the keepers we've had in recent times, can see him being a top keeper though looked the part against west brom in the cup last year.
I'm assuming that you mean Lambert has turned his head Supers? I suppose he would be number 2 there, but he is currently learning from one of the most talented goalkeeping coaches around at the moment who has direct links to the national set up. AS a young keeper that would be a dream. I do think Dave Watson is a massive asset to us.
and thankfully, watson is staying put! he was linked with man city but thankfully mancini was sacked in the nick of time pellegrini is bringing his own keeper coach and yes, i do mean villa.
Yeah I noticed Pellegrini was bringing in his own goalkeeping coach. We will probably lose him in the future but I think it's good for him to be working with English goalkeepers (in club football) and I wonder whether the FA would encourage him to continue to do that.
Perhaps Naughton would be on similar terms to our Garrido purchase, a loan-to-buy arrangement? I don't think spurs will let him go cheap, and so maybe this way both clubs get what they want, and we delay the fee til next summer? On Livermore, I know little about him, but I'm not sure how much more he offers compared to Johnson. I get the feeling that the big money DM signing we all talked about isn't going to happen this summer, as other areas seem to be higher priority, so perhaps a loan for Livermore is a stop-gap to next summer, when we can prioritize that position more?
From what I've seen of Jake Livermore, I don't particularly think he is actually anything special. I don't think he is any better than what we already have to b e honest. I also think Naughton would be a good shout, he has to be looking to get first team football at his age now surely.
the more i think about it, the more i'm warming to the idea of a loan for naughton - save our funds for another area. i also like the idea of agreeing a 'garrido-like' deal for next summer. i'm similar to most of you with regards livermore - nothing special
Very keen on Naughton, but not so sure about Livermore. A loan seems a good way as City will have more money next summer for buying then if it works out.
Bit gutted Villa have signed Nicklas Helenius. I've always rated him and wouldn't have minded us signing him, we were pretty strongly linked with him at one point in Lambert's tenure.
Yeah, I'd have happily taken him, any idea what the fee was? If he was on the cheap side, I'm disappointed they've got him. Hopefully Benteke will leave, otherwise they've got a pretty potent strikeforce
bit of the 'ibrahimovic' about him imo. doubt he'll be as good as him but certainly a promising player. doubt he'll get much game time next season though - benteke is a tough unit to shift... literally!
According to Transfermarkt £1.2 million, is that's true.. a very good price. Villa have signed well so far in my opinion, probably the best in the division so far. Will be interesting to see whether Benteke stays, I think he will but I get the impression he wants to leave which could affect his form next year. Holty's boots, I rate Martin Olsson. Good attacking fullback and I think he would link up with someone like Toivonen well, a player I reckon would create space down the wing for Olsson to bomb. Also if we were to sign Redmond I wouldn't be surprised if he played on the left hand side to cut in, again creating space for Olsson to get forward. I feel more confident about the Toivonen deal now we have reportedly started discussing personal terms, we clearly don't want this deal to stall. I think that would be encouragement to him as well, him feeling as though we really want him will perhaps encourage him to join Norwich.
I think Olsson would be a fantastic signing, but unfortunately I don't think it will happen. Despite his rumoured (multiple) transfer requests, he still has two years left on his contract so Blackburn could hold out for a substantial fee. I think we're looking at £6m or more. For a left back, that's an enormous chunk of our transfer budget. We will also be up against Wet Sham by all accounts, who will probably be prepared to offer better wages and he knows Allardyce, so I think we won't stand a chance unless they spend (burn) all their budget on Carroll
just had a text saying that vaughan has agreed a deal with blackburn. must be a swap of some kind with olssen?
should just say, its only a text - i don't actually know if its true or not yet! i'll look into it later
