Carroll's total fee including wages is just shy of £50 mil for a striker who scored 7 goals in a season. Absolutely ludicrous for a club that was so close to going bust. As for Olsson Rob, we've reportedly agreed a cash+player deal. I think he will cost us cash wise no more than £3mil personally.
Yep, just seen it on newsnow and the other thread. That makes more sense. If Vaughan is going too, that must mean we will definitely be signing another striker, having lost both him and Jackson.
Would love to see Naughton back at Norwich, though I doubt he'd get ahead of our other full backs, to start with at least. As for Olsson, a quality defender, would be a very good signing! And if Vaughan is going the other way, I have a feeling a solid bid for hooper will be on the horizon.
Wouldn't mind any of the Spain u21's, they are playing some loverly football in the final. Spain certainly look like they'll be strong for a while yet with these lads coming through.
Current headline from the BBC Live Text Commentary page: In Summary Italy U21 1-4 Spain U21 (1700 BST) Spain are defending champions Italy seek record sixth title De Gea equals Spain cap record Stuart Pearce not kept on as England coach "In summary"? Yup, sums it up!
My friends just text me that Elliott ward has joined bournemouth... Bit surprised about that thought he'd go to a top championship team no disrespect to bournemouth intended.
Yeah, if true I'm surprised he's slipped that far. Although to be honest I don't really know how he got on at Forest. I certainly thought he'd be at a club that would be in-and-around the play-offs. Good luck to him though.
I liked Ward, he got far too much blame when we conceded when he was forced out of position to cover the gaps.
He had the turning circle of a sopworth camel ! His positonal play was ok, but he should do well with Eddie Howe
agree. i personally see bournemouth surprising a few people. they have a bit of money down there these days and eddie howe is doing a great job (again!)
Yeah, he was very much a CB, he'd probably have done fine with us this year really as the full-backs have had less license to go forwards.
re: olsson, the opinion of the one sole blackburn fan that i'm mates with is that he is a better winger than full back. not heard anything more about vaughan but i'm told on relatively good authority that he has effectively left the club already
I think it'd make sense to sign a LB who can play like a wing-back or even as a winger to complement the more conventional skills of Garrido. Little point in having two players the same.
As for Vaughan, there's no guarantee that he is the exchange player. Could also be Barnett, Ayala or even Fox.
I think Surman and Fox will probably be kept on as I doubt either are on huge wages, and are very good championship options should the worst happen. Fox also helps cover DM as we haven't great depth there, and Surman offers something different, which may or may not be useful to Hughton, we'll see. I think Supers and ncfcpaul have independently came up with the name Vaughan, and seeing as he seems to have no desire to be here, he'd be the logical one to shift in my book. I live with a Blackburn fan who seemed very happy with the idea when I mentioned it to him. From the little I've seen of Blackburn this season, they looked ok at the back, but completely lacked inspiration going forwards. Whether Vaughan is the solution to that I don't know, but someone who scored, what 20(?) last season despite injuries would probably be very helpful to them.
also, there is plenty of people who believe rhodes will be off (no - don't start that again! ), and vaughan would be his replacement i suppose
The Redmond rumour is resurfacing too: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ch-Fulham-bid-Birminghams-Nathan-Redmond.html
You have to laugh, as soon as a player is linked to leave a club all there fans say how they're overpaid, over rated blah blah blah! All Blackburn fans are saying they would drive him down here them selves.
