I agree that would be a lot for a No. 2 keeper if we were still in the Championship, but I think we are going to have to pay a fair bit for a capable one in the EPL.
£60m or more on fees and wages. We cut our wage bill massively when we released an entire team recently. In other positions you can move players around to a certain extent. You try playing one of the strikers in goal and see where it gets you. We tried playing goalkeepers who weren't good enough and it cost us points.
I get your point, but we have a limited budget combined with credible relegation fears/meltdown of last time. It's going to be hard to attract names that most Premier League clubs want. I'd go with some like AM and then buy a cheaper understudy. I think we have to appreciate we're going to be cautious and we are going to have to find the bargains (in the main) in order to succeed.
If we do have 60m - how much of that is already taken up? We need strength accross the enitire team and we cannot afford to spend a large portion of our budget of it on two goalkeepers. AM is a Scottish No.1. We're a newly promoted team in a popular media slated area of the country. I think we should be happy with such a signing.
The extra TV money will be for new players transfer fees (spread over a few years) and wages and increases in wages for our present squad. We will get extra income besides TV money from our promotion. We have saved a lot in wages with our release list.
We're already expecting a spend around £15m on fees and have a £40m wage bill, anyone who expects more deserves to be slapped with a wet fish.
We HAVE a £40m wage bill? Do you mean that's 2013-2014 budgeted wages? We could have got Campbell for £30k per week. He would have been reasonable in the Premier League. I expect we'll have to spend a lot more than that now for somebody as good as him.
McGregor ...on a serious note...is actually a very good keeper. A ****, but a good keeper. I doubt he's coming to be No2.
Are all Celtic fans complete and utter spazzes? After seeing what every Celtic fan has posted on the City forum, I note I have not seen one sane Celtic poster. My dad had to work in Scotland last week and couldn't wait to get home - he said everyone was a complete moron. The group from his work included a 19 year old lad who had only done jobs for the firm in Hull, this was his first trip working away. My dad was telling me how all the Scottish lasses were utter bimbos throwing themselves at the lad night after night to the extent that my dad actually had to have a word with him because he wasn't getting enough sleep - turning up to work in the morning not being able to keep his eyes open... anyway, my dad told me about this mother and daughter who came into the bar/restaurant situated below where they were staying - they were obviously regulars as they were in most nights and were always pissed up. He said one night when all the workers were sat eating their teas (minus the 19 year old), the mother came over and said "Where's the young laddie that's usually with you?" - they told her he'd already gone out, and she replied "Argh! I want him to get with my daughter!" ...the workers laughed and said "You don't want him near you daughter luv" and the mother replied.... "Why not? She's got big bangers!" ...Scotland, the country where mothers pimp out their daughters
Aye, he'll be coming to be the No.1 keeper. We'll probably go for someone like Forde as the No.2 keeper. I think someone mentioned that one earlier...
It was in reply to posts that were moved whilst I was writing it. As for Forde, he won't come here as No.2 - he's Ireland's No.1 and won't want to lose his spot with the possibility of World Cup football next summer.
