The Greeks brought a lot of it on themselves. At a time we were raising our retirement age, they decided to use Euro funds to retire people in their fifties. Probably simplistic, but an example of their poor financial management.
There's also a very misleading statistic which people use to claim that they're the hardest-working people in Europe. The truth is they have the longest working hours, but seem to spend all those hours doing very little, and spend half the day on their lunch break. Generally the country has been too lazy (or laid-back, if you want to put a positive spin on it) and their productivity has to improve a lot.
Or, if you don't want to stress yourself into an early grave, they may have a better balance than we have here, The mistake is to work and work until you either die early or realise that the hard work you have done has led to a very unhappy life, so far.
I am very wary of that, but we have to do some work, so we should make sure we do a good job of it and keep the economy going. I think France does a good job of balancing work and leisure.
So do I. I do occasionally dream of doing odd jobs in places like Meze, in Southern France, to keep ticking over. I got quite close to buying a small farm[!] in S.France in the mid-1980s.
My sources are never wrong. They said today, it was today. Well, that was after they said that the day was yesterday, but still.
If you're allowed to give a 1 year time period, can I predict we'll have announced this season's kit and pre-season friendlies some time between now and 2014?
