But time as proven Pearson right about Stewart. Kasper dedication to the game and winners mentality will never subside, so he's worth every penny of £4m.

You wouldn't have said that if he had forked out the £1.5Million he offered! :D I am surprised by CS and his fall from grace - we have a few other ex-Manure players all of whom show the mental strength and dedication you say KS has - he's obviously the exception to the rule and think he doesn't need to work at his game any more

Kasper has had 2 fantastic seasons here. Proving his value is alot more then 1.25M and 1.75M. Had Kasper been under a stronger contract I would have wanted at least 6M. Having seen him week in and week out for 2 years I can confidently say he is going to be one of the best keepers in the country and maybe Europe in another couple of years

Stewart had a good 6 months. You wanted around 2M+

We sign both Ben Marshall and Anthony Knockaert for less then 2M. Both are better players then Stewart

The shape CS is in these days I'd wager you and I are better players than he is!! :D

Kasper is by no means the finished article but he does have potential ... Proud has the crux of it but I'd temper the comments with an 'if' ... 'if' he irons out a few flaws he could become one of the best keepers in the country ... he does flap at high balls every now and then and he does suffer from the odd rush of blood to the head ... he can work on both. He has great reactions and is a wonderful shot stopper - he's filling out, both physically and in terms of confidence (far more commanding of his box than when he first arrived), his distribution is generally good and he gets tremendous distance on his kicks.

If the club want Kasper to stay then surely we'd be offering him a new contract, however the fact that we want £3.5 M suggests to me that we want to sell, probably because his wages are to high to improve on.

However all might be irrelevant anyway as some reports suggest that Wigan want Steve Bruce (although I can't see that happening!)

.. don't think it's a question of the club wanting him to stay ... i think his head has probably been turned by the 'immediate' lure of Premiership football and he may have let the club know that he would prefer to go ... if that's the case, then obviously it simply comes down to price.

Wigan have made an approach for Steve Bruce

And the club have warned Hull not to make another low bid for Kasper Schmeichel

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...Dave-Whelan-for-surprise-return-to-Wigan.html

Hull tabled a second bid of £1.75 million for Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel on Monday but the offer has been dismissed out of hand by the East Midland club.

Leicester value Schmeichel, 26, at around £4 million and have warned Hull not to make any more low bids for a player with 12 months remaining on his contract.

Its written by John Percy so we know its reliable

It seems Dave Whelan doesn't know he's made an approach..."I have not been able to interview any of the 30 people that have applied," Whelan said. "I did not want to jeopardise negotiations about compensation [for Martinez] and it would not have been fair to offer anyone the job when I was not in the clear. I would say that in football there are always good managers without a position. We have had some very good people apply for the job. There is no need for me to chase anyone. There are half a dozen top lads among those that have applied."

Maybe Steve Bruce applied for the job

It seemed strange at the time you lot approached Nigel but you got him.

On regards to Kasper now you either need to get serious or go elsewhere

Good point, I'm sure Brucey doesn't like the Premier League and would much rather try and move to the Championship.

And that's for the advice on Kasper, but I think we'll do whatever we fancy, you can always reject whatever we offer.

That's what happens in football, as you repeatedly told me when you were bidding for Stewart.

Its football stranger things have happened with regards to Bruce. I cant see it happening though

If you bid for Kasper again we could always cry about it in the media and refuse to do business with you <ok>

You you hunch about getting Kasper for 2.5M. <laugh> Hows that working out

Brucey has just confirmed that the story in the Telegraph is bollocks, he hasn't had any contact with Wigan.

I still think we could get Kasper for less than £3m, the question for me is why bother when we can get Schwarzer on a free.

You have no chance in hell of getting Kasper for under 3M

The owners see Kasper as a way or recouping some of the money Sven blew on crap

In all seriousness do you really think that you are getting Kasper?

We don't need nor want to sell so won't consider low bid - low meaning less then what Butland was worth to Brum who needed to sell - and he is on Sven wages so is probably on double your highest earner so coupled with the transfer fee will be most of your budget gone.

I bet this is a smokescreen for your tabloids while you go after your real targets - if you have around £8M to spend as mentioned earlier in the thread, why would you spend over half of that on a keeper when the like of Schwartzer, Given and Harper are available on a free/cheap?

Can I just ask, do you know the owners personally? It's just that you repeatedly say what the owners think, what bid they would accept for your players or in this instance what they "see" as if it is fact. If not then you are guessing, same as everyone else.

Unless... you're not one of the owners are you?

Personally, I wouldn't have gone for Kasper at all, he's obviously a decent keeper, but I think we would benefit more from a tried and tested Premier League keeper, particularly when we could probably get one for nothing. I don't think it's a smokescreen, it would be pointless, we'd just go for whoever we wanted, so Bruce obviously fancies signing him.

I think your numbers are a little out of whack, if Kasper's on double what any of our players were on, then your paying him £40k a week(which you're obviously not) and we haven't set a transfer budget, so the £8m has just been plucked from thin air and as we're looking to sign 6-7 players, I'd suggest it will end up substantially higher than that.
