Not really - doesn't really matter how well Kasper gets on with his Uncle Steve, nor how much he would like to join him whether for Sunday lunch or in the Premier League ... the only thing that does matter is how much dosh Uncle Steve (and his Chairman) are prepared to cough up in order to play happy families ... cos one thing's for sure - if Kasper asks for a transfer, and we get bigger offers from Uncle Mark, Uncle Big Sam or Uncle Michael down at the Welsh seaside ... then Uncle Steve will have to console himself with some mackerel goujons ...

    Alright Fosse, how's tricks?

If that is right the club could risk having an unhappy player in the dressing room if he has expressed a wish to seek a new challenge. That could be more detrimental than selling him now

Alright thanks Mullet - all the best to you and yours. You do, of course, have a point ... but personally I'd rather have an unhappy player on the bench than sell him on the cheap (not least because it sends the right message out to others) ... he can always leave in a transfer window if he has enhanced his value with performances up to that point ... if he wants to play mardy arse let him have a year out the game if necessary and see if he still has the same level of interested parties at that point ...

When I read that article Fossie, the the thing that I thought was glaringly missing was where it says Schmeichel is happy to stay at Leicester.

I think you have a point Strov ... which is why my 'emphasis' is now very much on that he must not be allowed to go cheaply ... and once (if) he's gone I'll then agree with Leeds fans that he was always crap and prone to flapping and will be a liability in the Prem ...<laugh>

Well, 'cheap' is an interesting word, Fossie, it's very subjective. I think your definition of a fair price would be very different from mine.

Despite what that idiot Proud_Fox believes, there is NO 'market rate' or 'going rate' there is just the laws of demand and supply

There will be no enhanced value as he's already the championship keeper of the season with a year left on his deal. In January he may still be the best keeper in the championship (no change) but only be 6 months away from being available for free. Obviously if he was proving himself at a higher level or had signed a new long-term deal deal his value might significantly increase. Staying where he is and letting his contract run down will only decrease not increase his market value.

Speaking of sending the "right message" to others - see what happens with your own recruitment if you do deny him a move and make the lad sit on the bench for the last year of his deal. There will be a lot of agents giving Leicester a wide berth as they will not want their players ending up at a club who are likely to restrict their players careers for the sake of making a point.

Furthermore, if you don't get some high earners off your wage bill then there will be no wage budget for new signings anyway due to FFP restrictions on playing budgets.

I've not seen anything of Kasper this season to suggest he's any better than he was when he was at Leeds. We sold him with a year left on his contract, and he went for about a million. He won't go for much more than that. Funny how "the best keeper in the championship" hasn't already made it to the premier league though.

Besides he's over rated. Poor leader, flaps at crosses, throws temper tantrums.

According to some tweets I've seen the Radio Lesster football forum this evening was talking about their Club's need to sell before they buy.

Maybe Proud_Fox should call the Club and explain how easy it is to circumvent FFP.

All fair points BUT ... look what happened with QPR this season ... soon as in the mire paying way over the odds in a desperate attempt to avoid the drop ... and that's my point really.

Agreed - indeed he lost his head to come charging out and concede THAT very dramatic winner in the play-off semi at Watford .... BUT he has improved markedly since he joined us and I believe will get even better - lots of cliches in football that are wide of the mark, but one that seems to hold some substance is that keepers are in their prime much later than outfield players - Kasper has plenty of potential if he is able to learn from the mistakes he makes ... a fabulous shot stopper - yes he does need to work on other areas but he has definitely grown in 'stature' during his time with us.

So basically just like his Legend of a dad.

Personally, he is overrated but purely from a financial point of view. The kid is a very good goalkeeper who has another 15 years in the game.

There are some decent candidates out there but I'd really love it if he came.
