Hull City boss Steve Bruce, once a team-mate of Peter Schmeichel at Old Trafford, has been eyeing Kasper Schmeichel, and the playerâs father claims the interest has translated to something more concrete.
Peter Schmeichel told Danish outlet DR: "Hull have filed two official bids, and they have a super manager, Steve Bruce, who is one of my best friends.
"He has known Kasper since he was three-and-a-half years old. And Kasper and Alex, Steveâs son, have played together and grew up together. Itâs a great funny story."
Kasper Schmeichel has himself announced a desire to one day play in the top flight, but his former Danish international father insisted Leicester City will not give up his services without a fight.
"How [the speculation] ends, is under the control of Kasper, his club and his agent", he added. "It will not be easy for him to leave, because he is at a club that definitely will not let go of him.
"It is interesting to follow this, and I stand on the sidelines as a very proud father
Some quotes from Peter Schmeichel regarding Kasper
Leicester just hold the aces at this moment in time - but if Kaspar doesn't sign a contract extension and hands in a request then Leicester's hand is weakened,
The only way it will change is if Kasper asks to go. Imagine this then. You lot didnt get promoted, James Chester is happy to stay but wont sign a new deal and the only offers you get are crap
Do you sell him on the cheap just so you get some money or do you keep him for the promotion push and risk losing him for nothing
If Kasper is happy to stay and no one meets the asking price we just keep him and risk losing him for nothing. If we get promoted and he walks for nothing it will be worth it
It's difficult to call, its all down to Kasper. But I'm sure we wont stop bidding there.
