It's fine to say that the percentages of Whites and Blacks put to death are pretty much the same, but when the Blacks represent just 13pc of the population, your figures pale into insignificance.
That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm arguing that the legal system is full of flaws and that there have been plenty of miscarriages of justice over the years. Given those circumstances it is morally and lawfully irresponsible to introduce a death penalty.
Anyway, much as I enjoy a good argument I'm going for lunch then spending the rest of the afternoon in meetings Laters.
Good one, very convincing blah-blah-simple talk ...where do you draw the line at murder, for instance, at what point on a spectrum of 'crime' does it become a choice between death and prison? Moreover, who decides? -Also, without some form of a humanitarian standard, could such a sanction be politically abused? thinks ... PNEawf, you really are ****ing stupid aren't you?
I for one would rather see EVERY convicted *****phile, rapist and murderer executed, even if 1% are innocent, at least we could guarantee that the guilty 'people' NEVER reoffend. As for the innocent 1%, as someone else has stated, '**** happens', do we cry more over the innocent 1% who are exectued or the 100 times that amount who die needlessly in road accidents?
People are shouting about innocent people may be executed, but how many murdered, raped and abused children and adults were not innocent? I know 2 wrongs don't make a right, BUT, where proof positive that this person has indeed committed the crime then they forfeit the right to be treated as human. Once again it is only my opinion, but I stand by it.
I was just stating my opinion. I think prison causes more problems than it solves, only serious crimes deserve prison sentences (see previous statement). I was just commenting that sometimes, in a few occasions, some people are never going to fit back into society, and I've met people that I'd rather were dead than walking the streets. Luckily, I'm not in charge of things...
For the folk asking if we would agree with the death penalty if one of our family was wrongly convicted I ask you, would you not want it if your daughter was raped and murdered and the murderer was caught bang to rights? And if you say no you are a ****ing liar. ALL *****s should be executed. God knows these scum reoffend again and again only to be released by our ***** Judges who are guided by our ***** Governments. And yes, if an adult shoplifts 10 times they should be executed too. If you know the punishment then don't ****ing do the crime. Why should I be paying more money for my goods to cover theiving ****s whom I no doubt already support through my tax paying for them not working. I'd soon solve the overcrowded prisons problem.
You never committed a crime in your life? Do you honestly think you are incapable of depraved crime? Ever heard of die by the sword? - you should be first against the wall mate please log in to view this image
It seems that a fair degree of the debate centered around what looks like revenge. But can revenge have a place in a justice system? Personally, I don't think so. Vindictiveness can not give birth to fairness.
I didn't really answer your question, will give it another go In my first statement I said I was for prison sentences only for what I consider serious crimes, like violent ones (including murder) or sexual ones (rape, peados,..) etc All petty crimes like shoplifting, car-theft,...should be dealt with by doing community service, fines if applicable, restrictions on their whereabouts... I would only consider death-penalty in extreme circumstances, where a criminal is never going to be fit to re-enter society, but that's only if I'm in charge. (This is from the list of offences I'd send someone to prison for) Otherwise I think they should have a choice to end their days or not in a dignified way, not that they deserve it, it's just that prison suicides don't look good for our country, well the prison system in general doesn't
