Great chap, all credit to him for his perseverence as weaker people will have falterered.

Agreed. Very nice piece.
You can also mirror McShane's story with our own ex.Tiger Damian Delaney who was on the scrap heep last summer @ Ipswich Town. Then Dougie Freedman took a chance with DD and the rest is history. As both are ROI team mates i bet the banter this week will be great. 2 fantastic stories of success over hard times.
Delaney was caught in a very emotional state after the game yesterday by sky. Heartwarming moment. So happy for Delaney and he was the MOM for me. Stood out for most of the game in the Wembley PO Final.
Not good enough for us in the Championship so we got rid.
He will do well to survive in the Prem. Hope he does as I'n counting on Palace to finish below us and DD would give us a better chance.

Very harsh. DD is not that bad and has proved it. Palace though as a team will be weaker come august and i do feel that Palace will just take the money and run,, sorry drop down again. But its good for Hull City that Palace came up actually.
Damien was a nice lad and he did a good job for us, but he's never a Premier League footballer.
He just gave a MotM performance in the playoff final though, and been regular at the heart of their defence all season, he's now an Ireland international and he isn't at an age like Windass was in 2008 which is likely to cause a problem so why not? If the best players from the promoted teams can't play in the PL, who can?
There's far more players who get promoted to the PL and do alright than people seem to realise. It's a myth that everyone buys an entire new team upon promotion. I expect Delaney will be a Premier League footballer in the next few months.
