From Liverpool... To Arsenal?! I just hope we go back to black shorts at least. I will consider buying a new shirt if it's better than the V necked James Beattie era shirt. I just hated watching us play in all red.
I've never been a great fan of the current badge. I've always thought [since I gave it a proper thought] that it was a little too homespun and amateurish. But that's me, and I appreciate I'm probably in the minority. Before you accuse me of wanting something jazzy and modern, I preferred the older Southampton badge. I'd prefer a redesign of that, I think. As far as the kit is concerned, I hardly care about stripes, dominant colours or anything else, provided that a Southampton side looks like they are the best team in the World when they step out onto the pitch, because confidence is a part of the battle, and feeling and looking like a million, as the saying goes, helps to that end. Notice each season that the ManU main kit always looks very good, sometimes excellently so. There's a reason for that beyond getting the supporters to buy it. In my junior footballing school days we traditionally played in tent-like blue and yellow squares, baggy black shorts and thick yellow and blue hooped socks. I've got a team photo somewhere and none of us look happy because we knew we looked sh*te. The only thing that looked good on me couldn't be seen - my Addidas Santiagos. The next season we changed to slim modern shirts with the same design, but with tighter white shorts and socks, and promptly won the league. And we felt and looked great right from the off, as our early season 1968-69 photo also showed. In senior school we played in red and white. We also looked really good and won the league [by then I wore Pumas]. People who have never played the game don't realise that sometimes it's the smallest things that make that little difference to push you over the line to success. The important thing to remember is that traditional or not, a badly designed/looking kit is something to avoid.
Well if we are going Adidas and return to stripes, this is almost certainly what it will look like http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/news/article/201314-home-kit-pre-order-830023.aspx
Red and white hoops?? Nah!! As an alternative away kit ..... turquoise or aqua would look really cool!!
Crap, crap and thrice crap. Only makes me feel Cortese is more justified in swerving us away from having the same as Sunderland, Stoke and West Brom, albeit in a different colour scheme.
I would probably prefer us to not have stripes. Screw tradition, it's all about aesthetics (sorry CBK)
At the risk of sounding approximately 73 years older than I actually am. I kind of expected us to go back to traditional like last season. Thing is, if it was similar to this year, fewer buyers = not much money. Plain red seems a bit...plain, compared to what we have gone for in the last few years, but I have been known to be wrong before. Anyway, I don't suppose Nicola is sitting on Photoshop doing it himself. Our school team had somehow got a Saints all white Draper (3rd?) kit which was from something like 1990. The sponsors badge was massive and made of some foamy thing which had just collected in a solid mass half way down the shirt. Nipple rash was inevitable.
I've said it before, but as long as it doesn't look like total crap I'll just be happy if it doesn't fall apart after 4 washes.
You either have, or you don't have, taste. I absolutely dread to see what many of your wardrobes and record collections are like.
