Reading the article, it looks like Sky got it wrong in the first place. It had assumed that Spurs were the club who had tabled a bid. Now it looks like it was the Mousers all along. So, no confirmation that AVB was ever really interested in the first place. I did read that the Internacional president is in London for tonight's final & that talks with Levy re Damiao are expected to take place. So, fingers crossed it Actually happens this time.
Here we go again... Inter president - "I will accept nothing less than £25m" Levy - "So, what you're saying is - £8m will do?" Inter president - "...no, I just said £25m" Levy - "£10m and a packet of Salt and Vinegar McCoys?" Inter president - "OK Mr Levy, I like you so I will put it down to £20m" Levy - "So - £8m?" And so on and so on.
On Twitter - Monaco in talks with Spurs for Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Make of that what you will. If Monaco want him then, seeing as how they're prepared to splash out £60m on 2 midfielders, I think BAE for £20m isn't unrealistic...
Zidane's mentioned Bale a few times now. The big two in Spain don't seem to fear a tapping up charge, for some reason. Far too cozy with UEFA for my liking.
Monaco just spent £60m on Moutinho and Rodriguez. Moutinho's market value is known to be around £25m so does this mean that Rodriguez is worth £35m? I don't think so. It tells me that Monaco are throwing around money like it's going out of fashion - therefore BAE for £20m is a solid line of thinking
BAE isn't even worth half that amount imo. They could get someone better for that price. In fact you could probably get Coentrao for under 10million.
It being reported that Neymar has agreed to join Barca on a 5yr deal. Is the end for Villa? Time to cut a deal Mr Levy!
I agree. But, if Monaco do want him, you can bet Levy will screw them for every last penny he can get.
The paper trail went cold on this after intense media speculation. I expect it to fire up soon starting with the Fail no doubt.
Villas-Boas at the Monaco Grand Prix: please log in to view this image I'm sure that'll start a rumour or two. please log in to view this image The Bahamas one day and Monaco the next. It's a hard life.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Bale staying in Monaco while we fly back to London considering the way Monaco are throwing their money around.... And as I type this I had a quick gander at Skysports and see Monaco have agreed a £52m deal for Falcao, unbelievable. How can they be operating under the fair play rules??
More importantly, isn't it taking the piss they don't operate under the same tax rules as the rest of Ligue 1? ...coincidentally, recently it has been proposed that, as players are exempt from the highest band of tax in the French system, the clubs should pay it instead to compensate. Monaco would dodge that as well.
