Rodgers still overly reliant on the Swansea squad of two seasons ago because he doesn't know any other players, in other words...

Let's see, we've been linked with...
    Christian Eriksen
    Sergi Roberto
    Fredy Guarin
    Radja Nainggolan

Tom Carroll? as we all know the lad can play, and he's 21 in a couple of days (according to wikipedia) so he should be ready soon, maybe it's time for him to take a little more responsibility in midfield?

Not sure he's ready to start there on a regular basis, as he still doesn't do it for 90 minutes in the reserves, but he should be moved up the pecking order.
I'd like to see him, Smith, Caulker, Townsend (assuming he's available) and possibly Livermore starting in our cup games, especially the League Cup and Europa League.

Our future must lie with the youngsters, this is what kick started Man U. With all the money invested in the new facilities and a more obvious policy of bringing them through we have more than a hope in this area now surely!

Man United did this in another age, football was not dominated by clubs with obscene money .
We may have no choice but others will buy outstanding talent and leave us standing.

Carrroll is a player that may become a good creative midfielder , but to rest our hopes on him is clutching at straws
and not fair to the lad.

the ffp should be putting a stop to that hopefully,i think even the moneybag clubs will look to develop youth squads.

If anything, it will lead to the moneybags clubs picking off the best youngsters from the clubs with the best academies - the latter will need the former to do so to make ends meet more than ever.

In the case of Southampton, there's a difference between when they needed the money and when they didn't.

When they didn't need the money and were cashing in, they dictated the price - the best case being Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who they sold for £12m + £3m in add-ons. Zaha's deal to join MUPLC is along these lines.

However, when they do need the money one of two things happened:
In the case of Theo Walcott, they wanted £5m up front, plus £5m for club appearances and £2m for England appearances, and got all of it eventually.
In the case of Gareth Bale, the deal was £5m up front and £5m based on appearances and trophies, but needed money so the add-ons were reduced to a £2m settlement.

FFP is going to do more harm to clubs trying to catch up on smaller budgets, such as Everton and Newcastle, which means if they need to plug a hole in their accounts they'll have vultures circling knowing they can dictate terms for their best prospects.

With all due respect NSIS he didn't actually say he should go, he just said he was good enough.
Which is more than can be said for Messers Ramos & Desailly.

Trust me, I know the way these people operate. This is all just notching it up a bit more in their non too subtle tapping up campaign. Bale is supposed to be flattered by praise from such a great iconic player as Zidane.

You just need Marca to start printing bullshit stories about Bale and you'll know what it was like for us with Fabregas

La Marca is no great friend of Barca. Of course, they are a newspaper and if a good story is around involving Barca, they'll go with it. But, they are the unofficial mouthpiece of Real.

Sky sports saying that Liverpool are leading the race for Porto winger Christian atsu, who we've been linked with and played under AVB.

Looks like AVB could miss out on another one of his targets!
