I think the only time Spurs fans will understand how gutted we feel today will be when Bale scores AGAINST them when he is playing for Madrid or Barcelona!

It isn't the same as temporarily swapping teams as rabbit spectrum said, but I just can't understand what makes you wake up one day and think, "I know, today I'll place a bet against the team I love and support"

Each to their own, but I have never done this and can't understand he mentality of doing it.

Once he leaves, Spurs wont even be in a position to face Madrid or Barcelona.

I didn't. I thought, "I wonder what the odds of us going down are, think I'll check. 150/1?! That's gotta be worth a bet."

I'd just call it a kibosh. Good plan if you ask me.

Wouldn't attempt it. For one, kids are heavier than they seem, and they have a lot of odd angles; very difficult to keep in the air, particularly when you're also occupied with keeping the football up.

    Also, congrats.

Congrats from me too. And whatever you do, don't try playing keepy-uppy using a child.

Anyone counting on 3 points from todays game was being rather optimistic I'd say. One was what I was hoping for and I thought we were going to get it. i was hoping the other results would go our way but that's football. As said before the big concern for me is no goals in 3 now. That has been our strong part this year. Hopefully we can get a break out game at Sunderland.

Agree with what you say about not counting on the 3 points, but it's like any match where you come so close to getting a result and it slips away, even if you felt like we had no right to get a result before kick-off e.g Utd at home or City Away. No goals in 3 is a concern, but it can't go on forever!

Have to say I enjoyed the game, we were bested by 1 piece of magic by 1 of the top players in the world. Shaw got dragged along but it was far too risky for him to make a challenge, he should learn from it. Interesting that both of Bales goals against us have been because he out muscled our fullbacks-but he is a strong lad. we held our own with a top 4 club for nearly all game, adding some quality in the final third must ba priority as that is 3 games without a goal

Semantics Dan. I am sure you understood my point. I don't understand someone placing a bet against their team.

I'm thinking of it this way. Wigan have 3 games left but I'm going to put down Wigan's game against Arsenal as a loss. So they are 4 points behind us with 2 games left. They need to gain 5 points on us for them to overtake us so they need to beat both Swansea and Villa. If they fail to beat Swansea I am declaring us 100% safe.

Unlucky, Saints fans. Your manager set your side out with the right tactics and mindset and you deserved at least a point from yesterday's game.
Good signs for next season, as you seem to be moving in the right direction. A few changes to personnel and you should be looking up rather than down. <ok>

I did, but the odds made it an exceptional circumstance (to me, and many others anyway). I've not felt any conflicting wishes, never even slightly hoped Southampton go down, so it's just a matter of insurance!

I was actually pleased that Wigan and Aston Villa won, I would much rather see Sunderland or Newcastle go down than those two. According to this site the results yesterday increased our likelihood of going down by 1.1% an insignificant amount really: http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/Premier.html

Ideally Newcastle will go down as they have a strong team and will be back on track next season if they stay up. They play QPR Away and Arsenal at home, which should see them pick up 1 point. Norwhich play west brom at home and man city away, which should see them pick up 1 point as well. Wigan play swansea and aston villa at home, and arsenal away, where I can see them picking up 4 points

If we can't pick up at least 1 point from our next 2 fixtures we are still a decent chance as Newcastle, Norwhich, and Wigan will have to perform above their expectations to climb above us. I will admit that Newcastle are actually more likely to pick up 3 points than 1 but I reckon QPR are a chance as many of their players will be playing to impress other clubs.

Fast forward 8 days & your tiny little 1.1% may well look a bit fatter & angrier. Wanting those teams to win suggests you don't remember much of our fights in the 90's.
