DLTW I've just read that Twitter argument. All I can say is I hope for his sake that he grows out of it. If he's truly interested in politics and willing to consider every viewpoint, then he will. Doesn't matter much to us either way thankfully, as he's not living here or voting here.

Oh I know, it was embarrassing and external frustrating.

I blocked him, because as they say, never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Manure and their finances under discussion again :- Despite releasing impressive financial figures on Thursday, which showed year-on-year turnover for the first nine months of the financial year has risen 13.1% to £278.1m, despite not including the new £120m, eight-year sponsorship deal with AON, Woodward said the club had no intention of making dramatic changes. United's broadcast and matchday sectors have increased 21.7% and 34% on the corresponding three months in 2012, whilst gross debt now stands at £367.6m, still a vast sum but a decrease of 15.9% since 30 June last year.

Talking of football finances, seems Newcastle didn't think there was any chance of them getting the drop this season.

Seems remarkably short sighted from a club who have been relegated fairly recently!

Here's a totally random question.

I wonder if anyone else has ever gone along the M40 / M42 to watch Saints play away. Everytime I've gone along the M40 and stopped off art Warwick Services I am always intrigued by the sight of the monument on the right hand side of the carriageway (heading North) within about 10-15 mins of the stop. I've tried finding out what this monument ( a cloumn with an urn on top) is for but can't see it on the Bing map / birds eye view and it hasn't materialised whenever I try to Google it.

Does anyone know what it commemorates ? I would be intrested to find out as I've been baffled by this a years!!

Thanks

Ian

I often use the M40 Ian, cutting back to Northampton. I'll check next time I'm that way and have a look. Can you remember the town or junction that's nearest as I could always cut through that way

Well the highest paid player in baseball is Alex Rodriguez who is in the middle of a 10 year $275m contract.

I'm going to watch my first ever baseball game week on Sunday in Minneapolis. Going to Winona for a week to Head Office and stop on the way out in Minneapolis and have been told we have tickets to the local side. Don't think they're very good.

I better have a look at how they play it; might be embarrassing to shout out "Rounder, Rounder, Rounder" as they run round the track.

Excellent read...will set recorder for that interview. So Cortese makes his presence felt....would never have guessed<whistle> Two players nearly signed...that's what I want to hear...we need early signings into the club to give them a preseason.

After posting it on the wrong thread I tried reposting this earlier, no idea where it went!

Does anyone else think that BBC Question Time has become unwatchable lately? Seems to be a bunch of opinionated loud mouths shouting each other down and you can't make head nor tale of the arguments, at least we are mostly civilised on here!

Target Field is a great park and one of the newest if not the newest. I've been there 3 times. I'm a fan of the Twins and they're not the best side but they're having a better season than the last 2 already. They have some quality players but their pitching has let them down. I notice they're playing the Baltimore Orioles. That's the team that was in town when I last went there. The Twins won 20-7.

I saw that as well do you think it's true?

There are so many controversies over the years, there's definitely something fishy. Whether it's just a minor bit of tampering here and there to get single results to swing the right way, or if it really is swinging things to dramatically alter the season, I don't know. But for years and years, things have come up from draft lottery results looking dodgy, to referees allegedly admitting they've been told to fix results.

It's not just Question Time unfortunately, you seem to get the same thing on almost every "debate show". 10 O'Clock live is the same, and it doesn't help with the embarrassingly partisan studio audience cheering and wooping either. You can also see similar frustrating arguments on American shows like Real Time with Bill Maher, and The Bill O'Reilly Factor if you're brave enough to turn that on. It's probably partly due to the fact that they have limited time to get their point across, and of course there's always one person who takes a lifetime to get their words out. Also it seems to be considered an acceptable strategy to just try and drown out your opponent's argument. I'd put it to these people that the only reason they won't let their opponents talk is that they're scared they might be right.

If you really want to get yourself enraged, try watching a "debate" involving Peter Hitchens, brother of the slightly-less-annoying (and also now deceased) Christopher Hitchens. He's been on Newsnight at least once, including one ridiculous argument about drug addiction between him and Russell Brand, in which Brand comes off looking the far more mature of the two, if you can imagine that.

Ugh. Peter Hitchens. At times in there he was totally ignoring what Brand was saying to him in favour of trying to make him look bad and talk down to the others.

When he said Russell was being abusive, what was that about?!

I can't tolerate PH, he makes me want to shout at my screen. Extremely ignorant and not open to discussion at all, going by that!

What is it with agents being permo tanned and blinding white teeth?
