Why can't Targett/Shaw both play in the future. If they're that good, a LB and a LM.

Regarding the young LB issue, I don't want to see us loose either of these lads
FLT is right, we need two quality players for most positions if we are to challenge for CL places
Luke has already proven to be injury prone so any second LB should get plenty of opportunities to play and having a quality second player means MP can give Luke regular breaks rather than playing him when not 100% fit

It is possible though. We can't keep everybody and keep them happy and Nicola has books to balance. The right proposition for a player that is surplus to requirements (we have no idea who NC is thinking of signing) and who is not under contract (no point in settling for the minimum recompense) may be the sensible deal. May never happen, but, as well as being naturally feisty, Nicola can also be pragmatic.

As a side issue, we shouldn't get too hot under the collar about the low compensation due for such players as we will benefit on other occasions. It works both ways and, as a PL club with an attractive academy, it may work more in our favour than not.

Quote from BBC "Behind the scenes the club is already working hard to plan for next season. Two players are already close to agreeing transfers, and one or two more may follow". Two players already studying the watch catalogue? Sounds interesting.

Now I am getting very excited!!!!! I imagine Astori is probably one of these, not a clue about the other though.

Would be encouraging to get a couple of new signings tied up at the start of the window.

I thought because we were a cat A academy we couldn't lose players for a minimum fee?

May be a translation thing, but, listening to Mauricio's prematch interview, it sounded like Forren may be on his way. He was asked what is happening with Forren and he replied along the lines of: He has played for the u21s and plans will be sorted out at the end of the season. Perhaps he means put out on loan, but certainly didn't sound like a ringing endorsement.

He was also asked if Gaston was showing signs of being a success in the PL. Mauricio said: Not in the last game and now he is out for 3 matches, but we'll see next season.

p.s. Summer has arrived as Sr Interpreter has ditched the suit in favour of light knitwear.

I think that's pretty conclusive evidence that we won't see Forren starting for the first team in our remaining games this season. I wouldn't say it means he's on his way though. I think with a proper pre-season with us he'll be in contention for a first team place, and we'll see how good he is then I guess.

I don't like to think of him as a panic buy from the days when our defence was shocking but it's looking like that may be the case. Back then Jos and Jose had some terrible games so its conceiveable that we may have bought him after the astori bid failed. That said poch did say "CB for the long term".

Yep even Forren's agent has said the same.

He was bought at the last minute just as Mauricio arrived. I would love to be proved wrong, but I don't think Mauricio rates him. 'We'll see at the end of the season' doesn't encourage me to see a future for Forren here. He may be a decent player, but I think MP's sights are higher. All supposition, I know.

You'd think being a CB himself he would have an eye for talent in that area and would those positions to be very strong indeed.

NB Although Adkins being an ex keeper didn't seem to help him decide!

Provided the wages were compromised upon, I'd be pretty happy to have him.

He's got to do something to drag his career out of the backwater, and here would be a good place for him to do it. If he's got any interest in developing his career beyond collecting balls for big name players at City he ought to be willing to take a pay cut.
