No. Williams is to old. The owners wont allow it.

    Alderwierdald seems positive.

I think Rodgers will push it through, tbh. As great as foreign players can be as leaders, they need the time to pick up the language to get their point across. You can be an inspirational leader, but they need to be vocal as well - or at least have vocal English speaking players in the team. Agger and Lucas don't strike me as being vocal leaders. Pepe maybe, but he's far from the action in goal. Williams is a perfect choice for Rodgers based on that, a leader and English speaking. He wouldn't be captain, but he'd be a leader on the pitch.

I still don't want him, but I see him coming in unfortunately. I hope he says no...

He couldn't with Dempsey, a player who could have made our early season much easier.

That was early on in his tenure. I think now he's had time to assess the squad, he'll say that this is is most important position to fill and needs the right player.

Would be a decent fourth choice from what I've seen.

Strangely fast for a centre back - used to be a striker at youth level I think.

We shouldn't get on Rodgers' back BEFORE Williams signs, if he does. Let's wait and see.

Would much rather have Alderweireld, however.

I can see us signing Alderweirald and Williams tbh.

We are linked with Loic Remy again today. £8m the rumoured fee.

    Yes or no?

And what would every one think of us signing Peter Odemwingie? Not rumoured but he has similarities to Remy and is a good goal scorer.

Williams for anything around £5mil would be decent but not at the quoted £12mil. Not seen enough of Alderweirald to even make a judgement on him.

Remy for £8mil would be decent, although wages would be a massive issue. He's pretty one dimensional though, needs to be played through the middle and only really offers pace. Think Sturridge offers more as a CF and we still have Borini who we need to give a decent chance to in the remaining games to see if he can cut it.

Odemwingie is a massive no. Not good enough for West Brom and certainly not good enough for us. Plus he's the wrong side of 30 and is only interested in cash as proven by wanting to go to QPR in the window. Hardly a proven goal scorer either.

I thought he was younger than that.

I think Borini will play LF.

Odemwingie is 32 this year. He'd be last on my shopping list of West Brom forward behind Lukaku and Long (not that either of those would be my first choice picks).

The thing with Borini/Suarez/Sturridge they can all player any position in the front 3 and then Downing/Sterling/Coutinho can play in either of the wide options. BR clearly wants players who can play in various positions up there so they can move around and we have depth in strength in all positions. One reason why I don't see us going for Benteke or Remy as they can only really play down the middle.

Benteke could be a good signing and I don't think he would cost too much.

He cost Villa £12m in the summer. So double that, at least.

You reckon? If they go down I think we could get him for up to £15 mill. I wouldn't pay more.

    I'd say £25m for Benteke.

Don't forget the £40m ontop, or whatever we get for Suarez. A lot of money that I don't trust Brendan with.

  20. If Villa want £25m for Benteke after being relegated then its a bit of a joke really. He's a very good young player but after one season in a relegated side? £15m tops IMO.

I can see Villa wanting £20m+ if they stay up though
