Apologies if its elsewhere, a Pompey fan told me that Chelsea are setting up an academy in Portsmouth. More likely to be a scouting and training set-up rather than an academy I would think. He seemed to think it would affect us as well as Pompey. I replied that our Chairman would say we had nothing to worry about as we are a top academy already. I suppose this is part of the changes in the academy system where teams can look more than 90 min from their own ground.

Stupid messed up system, probably the worst thing to come out of the Premier League ever I think. It's all about shafting the football league to satisfy their greed.

Seeing as Saints have an extensive scouting network which reaches the far side of the World, and there are centres in the North, at Bath, in Africa, etc... We don't do too badly.

BILD reporting that they have an exclusive that Mourinho to Chelsea is almost signed, and Falcao is going to be heading there too.

They broke the Gotze and Guardiola stories, so may be credible.

I don't doubt it, but it's still an utterly terrible system, but then who cares if League 1 and 2 clubs get shafted (not referring specifically to us there), as long as Chelsea and Tottenham get to hoover up any youth player with the slightest bit of talent on the cheap!

Saw Green replaced by Mather this morning, but failed to notice that Green went last week. Just shows how you miss things when you have a friend staying for a week who doesn't want to watch wall-to-wall Sky Sports.

Strange how the 2 main protagonists at the centre of this Rangers business at the moment are called Green and Whyte - they must be a plant from the other side.

I see there is a furore over QPR keeper Júlio César wearing a rival Chelsea shirt at a birthday party. How do you think people would feel if Schneiderlin or Lambert were seen wearing a Portsmouth shirt in private?

Sorry PL, I didn't think of it in those terms, and I agree, it feels wrong. I have always been against the formation of the Premier League and all the rules of improving this or that have been basically to improve the situation for PL clubs over any other. The fact that Chelsea moves in to your patch is just another example of a PL club having so much money that they can just do it. Lower league clubs have no protection. Then again, should they have the protection..?

The big cats will always vote themselves a bigger slice of the pie. However, aren't their more fans outside of the PL..? There's a petition there somewhere.

I'd be okay with it, I think.

I have a Chelsea shirt, which I have worn indoors. It was given to me by my Mum, about 3 years ago, when her old age memory problems were just kicking in at 95. Incidentally, she's just coming out of hospital at 98, after going through this last spate of viruses that has taken everyone down [including me at one point]. Thankfully, she's OK and looking forward to going home.

But why did she give me a Chelsea shirt..? Long story, made short - Aged 11 I wanted a Saints kit [late 1969-70]. Parents couldn't get one or make one so Mum asked me if I would accept any other kit. Hero at the time was Peter Osgood, so she stitched me a Chelsea kit and the rest is history. People who are familiar with the story will know that I took it on holiday to Italy and played football almost every day with the locals who thereafter referred to me as Charlie Cooke for the number 11 on my shirt and shorts. Mum couldn't stitch a 9. :)

Lewandowski has refused to answer whether he will leave Dortmund.

I have a (fake) Liverpool shirt that I occasionally wear around the house. Wore it for one five a side game before we got our actual kits, and forgot to give it back. It has Luis Garcia on the back, so why would I not wear it?

Neymar to Barca a done deal according to Tancredi, he will arrive after the Confed Cup. Just what Barca need another forward......
