It doesn't look good at all. Serious repercussions for those responsible I think. Obama's last 4 years as President. He'll want to go out bringing justice to those affected.
I hope that an unreliable source he's got. It's such a depressing thing, to see someone's life taken away before it's even started... Having someone of that age being killed will just anger the general public to a greater extent. I hope the ****s who did it are found. They all deserve to be tortured in the most gruesome ways imaginable.
It's always struck me as odd the way terrorist groups work, and that just sums it up quite nicely. I know the idea is that by making everyone feel unsafe they'll win the war against us and all that, but surely it would be easier to do something useful and gain support with a lot less defiance built in? I mean if it was an 8 year old kid tweeting that Piers Morgan was one of the victims it wouldn't be anything like as bad. Why not go and turn all vigilante and take out the people that both sides agree are scum and have people more sympathetic towards them? They always seem to target groups of people that are just going to make the rest of the population want to destroy them back.
It'd be pretty obvious if it was a suicide wouldn't it? How long before people start blaming the US government?
*New Update Right Now - There have been 8/9 amputations including one person who's had to have both legs off. - The devices have been described as substantial. - There are rumours that there are two other areas within Boston that could be planted with explosives. - 2 died at the scene and reports are unconfirmed whether the death toll is higher. - It is thought at least 50 people are injured. - Authorities cannot confirm whether the bombs were placed in rubbish bins but news is slow as Boston falls into panic. - There are currently no more casualties being brought into Boston Medical Centre.
I don't know, the blast that the BBC has the video footage for seems to come from behind the crowd. If I'm stood at the back of a crowd next to a bin and a bomb goes off how easy is it for observers to tell if the bomb was in the bin or strapped to me? I haven't heard an official comment either way.
City, I taught there for time and still visit regularly. I wouldn't overstate any anti-British or provo feeling. Even as an English Catholic, I'm mildly amused at the rare moist eyed rose glasses sentiment for 'the old country' and yet when I asked how they found Ireland when they visited, I'd get the usual 'Never been there' response. You get the odd idiot spouting shoite through the bottom of a glass. I am part Irish and Welsh only two generations back but I consider myself British/English, yet for some over there the roots go back even further and are more tenuous. It's plastic Oirishness in many cases, a badge. Folks mix there as well as anywhere in the US. Finally, the Catholic community who are still strong in local politics celebrate and fund celebrations of the Puritan founding fathers.

Whilst truly shocking I'm sure the initial videos I saw a few hours ago are being enhanced for effect. Same angles. more wobbling etc. Seen some shocking images of the injured. Who would do this thing? That guy on the roof is going to have to explain himself
They are reporting this morning, though unconfirmed, one of the dead is an 8 year old. If that is the case these people want hanging up by the balls for a very long time.
Dreadful news. Hopefully the authorities can catch these cowards and bring them to justice. Thoughts with those who have lost their lives, the injured and the bereaved.
Boston was the city that raised the largest amount for the IRA, they used to have collection boxes in many of the pubs, it was like going to a pub in Kilburn in the 80's. The collection boxes completely disappeared immediately after 9/11. Shocking thing this, seems an odd target too, presumably it was just picked as it's fairly high profile(5th largest marathon in the world, 3rd largest in the US).
You are dead right, I once had a very heated argument with a guy in a bar in Boston just about that point. They just didn't get it, but as you say they soon found out after 9/11.
