another way to look at it.. if we already had signed Mannone, Ayala, Hobbs, Danns and some other good players, and then the club announced we've signed Adebola... it wouldnt look as bad, as it just gives us another option upfront for low wages. the fact its the first signing though.. and that its possible we wont get Mannone or Danns.. blah
I think another big, impact-style striker will compliment deli well. If Howard or illewmo is going for a song, i think the two will work well over a full season.
if he is cheap and he compliments what we already have with the addition of maybe one more striker, then i think its a good signing
Sorry but that's a ridiculous argument. Cheap and Compliments?!?!?! What does that mean?? Then why not sign some cheap, complimentary carthorse from the lower leagues??? The guy has scored 5 goals in 61 games for Forest. How on earth is he going to solve our recognised goalscoring problems? This signing, as said on here already, is only of use if Plan A, B and C has failed and were at "Hail Mary" point when you want a big fat barsteward in the oppo box who you're going to launch long balls at. Even then, you have to ask whether if that's all you want him for why not take a punt on a lower league younger version, after all skill doesn't come into it. On any level I do not understand or agree with the reasoning behind this signing.
I love how this has gone from "anyone but Adebola" to "I can see why we've signed him". Poor signing, but probably a sad indication of the club's lack of ambition.
agree with TWF. it shows complete lack of ambition and maybe an indication that our finances arnt what we all thought/hoped. and just because the allams wiped out our debt, we still have little money to spend regarding transfers. thats the only reason i can think of... as many have said, if its a big man/hold up/target man we need, there's plenty of other options that would only cost a few hundred thousand.
I'm going to reserve judgement until.. A. It's confirmed we have even signed him. B. Until i have seen him in pre-season/beginning of the season to work out Nigel's tactical use of him. Could be useful, could be useless.
i'm not as disappointed with this signing as i thought i would be, as others have alluded to, its because its an early signing when we all want excitement. i'd imagine he'll have much the same impact as solano, somebody useful around the squad with plenty of experience, offering little more than extra cover or something a bit different when needed. having said that, i do still fear the front four options of fryatt, simpson, mclean and adebola won't be anywhere near as collectively strong as many of our rivals.
well you could say so, or you could say reliable when called upon and the ability to offer valuable experience within the squad
