A Geordie, a Mackem and a Smoggie were on the Quayside one Sunday morning and they saw a stall where they were selling ties for 2/6d.
The Mackem went over and asked for a red tie with white stripes on and handed over his 2/6d. The woman gave him a yellow one with green stripes on and he said, "This isn't what I asked for, I wanted a red tie with white stripes on", to which the woman replied, "I know, but they're all the same but different".
The Smoggie thought he'd give it a try so he handed over 2/6d and asked for a red tie with with white stripes on, the woman handed him a yellow one with orange stripes on and the Smoggie complained that it wasn't what he'd asked for and was told by the woman that they were all the same but different.
The Geordie asked if he could have a black tie with white stripes on and was handed a green one with red stripes on and began to walk away, the woman shouted after him, "Hi, this is only a shilling piece you've given me", to which the Geordie replied, "I know, but they're all the same but different."
And I know this story to be true because I was that Geordie.
