What a complete load of bollox you do shout! If you don't like the opinions posted here then go back to your own board and avoid trying to stir up trouble by using the death of a pensioner - there's a good boy.

Some on here are aware of where I live and the effect she had on my community. There will be celebrations tonight in my village.

I however won't celebrate the loss of life regardless of how much of a bitch she was. She was a mother so my thoughts go to her family.

Her age is irrelevant. It would be immensely hypocritical of those of us who hated her in the past to change their view through some ill- conceived sympathy for "an old woman".
Thatcher herself advocated giving asylum to Augusto Pinochet because of his age- despite the fact that this "old man" was responsible for the oppression, torture and deaths of many of his own people, as well as tax evasion and embezzlement of state funds in Chile.
Age doesn't absolve you of the actions of the past so easily.

She sorted the unions by destroying British manufacturing and closing all the mines <doh> hardly a wise move really was it (take a look at the Germans to see what a healthy manufacturing sector can do for an economy). She sold off all OUR energy resources for a cheap buck for her cronies. Next time your gas or leccy bill goes up 8% (again) you can thank Maggie for it.

I'm not sure how you work out Tony The Warmonger wouldn't have sent troops to The Falklands.

It wasn't just Liverpool she kicked in the nuts. Take a drive around the Welsh Valleys or any town in Yorkshire, the North East or Scotland and you can see the scars she left. Maybe if you emerged from the "London Bubble" you might understand. Either that or take a trip to somehwere like Dagenham and you can still witness the old witches legacy right there.

Old enough to have been around in the 80's and I did study politics for a bit but gave up when I realised all the parties are the same, just a different colour ribbon.
She was the best most successful Prime minister since Churchill and will be remember for that other than for a few lefty union reps she will get a good send off by many.

I've addressed this very point in an earlier post. They are all the same because of her.

I consider myself a centrist... on some issues I lean far from centre one way or another but I more or less balance out.

In the US, I may be considered a leftie... in the UK I'd probably be considered slightly right of centre.

From this perspective, there are some things Thatcher did right and wrong. She was right on privatisation, milk, unions, Europe and Falklands.

She was very wrong on taxes favouring the rich and punishing the poor. I don't buy the argument that the right wingers make that making the rich richer has a trickle down effect... studies show that when working class people get money it is reentered into fueling the economy. When people with a surplus of money get more money... they stow it away in savings stalling the economy.

All in all she gets a mixed score from me... but I do recognise her as a major mover in British recent history.

So naïve you are! England was in the dumps long before she took over (read your history books) She needed to get the country going again and sadly for some the best way was the path she took. Tony was not around during the Falklands and the labour party was full of lefty twats like Foot that would have sold us out. As I said she did some things wrong but more things right. Half the people moaning about her were not even born then so how they can hate her I don't know? Maybe it was the lasting Thatcher effect but then we did have 13 years under labour selling us out to Europe? Or sending our boys into wars without the correct equipment and sharing bullets, now that is unforgivable.

You must make your political decisions for yourself. Like your religious views they should be noted and respected.

Trickle Down does not make political or economic sense and has been proved not to do so. As for privatisation and unions I have to totally disagree with you.

Gotta say, was only just born and a young kid in the 80's ( couple that with living in the US) and I really don't know much about it all. What I do know is that covering up te true story on the deaths of 96 people, starving people back to work seem to be a bit ruthless and brutal.

You think she "got the country going again" and call me naïve? No she obliterated thousands of good local communities to pander to her paymasters. She destroyed hundreds of thousands of families right around the country and for what? To prove a point? No one's pretending everything was rosey before she came to power but what she did was take one almighty sledgehammer to crack a walnut. I could understand your praise if she'd "sorted the unions out" to the benefit of the manufacturing industry but what Thatcher did was far more damaging to this countries economy (long term) than anything any union ever did.And just so you know the idea of someone who worked down a coal mine being workshy pretty much sums up which one of us is naïve

I don't want to change anyone's mind. I know she did things wrong but so have other PM's as well. I just look at the whole picture and not jump on the 'bandwagon'.
If people can gloat over the death of an 87yr old pensioner then that's there problem. However whatever people think of her she will go down as one of this country's greatest leaders, like it or not.

As your critical assessment of the state of our country is littered with such phrases as "lefty twats" and comes directly from somebody-else's experience then I'll treat it with the contempt that it deserves.

  20. Heard this in car, first chance I've had to get on here. She was out of it anyway since she was a loony. Least she's serving her time in hell now
