Apparently someone from Downing St has said there will be on Radio 5, I think when they think long and hard they might just give it a miss. But if they decide to give her the full monty , then they are really, really asking for trouble and they will almost certainly get it
Baroness Thatcher may have died, but her legacy long lives on. Hope we give her a good and proper sending off. R.I.P. The Iron Lady
No problem, it'll just give them a chance to say what terrible people we all are and get in some water cannon practice.
Your right on both counts, her legacy unfortunatley does live on , people are infinitly more greedy and selfish these days And your also right in that some people will give her the sending off she deserves, see below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtwavcblPzo
I won't be shedding any tears for her passing. I resent the fact that she will have a quasi State Funeral though
Lady Thatcher's funeral will be ceremonial with full military honours, similar to the Queen Mother, but she will not lie in state...apparently Good Luck with that.............................................
She did some good and a lot bad. At the end of the day she was a person with power trying to use that power as she felt best. She did a lot for the role of women in society, and was a women with remarkable drive and belief - which can be admired. She was excellent during the Falklands and stood up against the terror and murder campaign of the IRA. However, there was Toxteth - then the pits, and Hillsborough. Like most people, she's a mixed bag. She won't be missed, I won't cry or feel sad for her, but in some ways I can respect her. Won't be taking pleasure in her death, certainly - a little too macabre.
luis suarez killed maggie thatcher... the scoundrel.. Mind you i bet the ethnic minority players union run by certainly people are not complaining like when he pinched a French man.
Although I disagree with a lot of her policies like the poll tax, etc... (stupid stupid idea) and I know what a devisive person she is... she probably does deserve a state funeral. She was the first woman to hold the office. One of the longest running leaders of the country. Won the Falkland isles back when a lot of people doubted our ability to do so. She did a huge job raising Britain's profile overseas. Americans are baffled when I tell them Thatcher was/is hated by a large number of Brits until I explain why. She probably was, for good or bad, the most defining and powerful figure in Britain of the latter half of the 20th century. Good or bad... she will be what the history books remember about late 20th century Britain. She is an important figure in our recent history.
Already said that I won't be shedding any tears but I'll offer her the same respect that I would any person who has just died. For me the over-riding criticism of her that I have is that she destroyed any last vestiges of society that existed in this country and left nothing but a venal wasteland.
She did her part, sure, but then different people would define society and the state's role in that society differently. For me her black marks are to do with her 'win at all costs' attitude - She got her policies across, but with huge cost. She left a lot of people destitute. That's rather unforgivable. She wasn't the devil incarnate though - she was a human being with successes and failures, like all of us. She happened however to have a lot of power.
