I still have all the home programs from around the '71 to '73 seasons, when I used to get taken to the games. They're in a box in the garage.
If we all stop and think about it...were all bloody crazy! All that dollar lolly we've spent on Spurs and football items.
I always read of stories about wives and mothers throwing out valuable (now) soccer items, stamps, matchbox tops and Lord knows what else,it almost, almost, makes me cry!
I always kept my junk in old suitcases, thankfully, and still have my "stuff" to this day.......including Charles Buchan's Football Monthlies,Soccer Stars,Sport,Sport Express, some Jimmy Hill's and a ton of Spurs cuttings, sadly going discoloured now, plus hundreds of programmes!
bigsmithy i still have my soccer stars,a few world cup editions and 2 other collector albums i don't remember the name of. Also a ton of programmes and other books kept in a sealed box in my shed- the missus is not allowed to touch.
Does anyone remember the little fact books I think they were called Squelchers?
I think that was an Esso promotion too.
Those little coins for the world cup I used to nag my dad to buy petrol all the time even when he didn't need to.
A question,Why do you keep them?,if they are in a sealed box, means you never look at them.i used to collect them,But i would need a warehouse by now,so i stopped and kept just a few special ones.
Oh goodness... there's a name I haven't heard for 30 years. Yes, had them too but doubt any are around now. If I remember they didn't last long as the spines were put together with rubber latex (the stuff that holds temporary pads together) so they fell apart before their time. They were certainly Esso too.
Edit: just seen you can get them on Ebay. Looks like there was some kind of collectors folder - I guess if you kept them in there and not actually read them they didn't fall apart!
