Does he deserve a chance next season, the last two games aswell as earlier in the season he looks neat and tidy with the ball.

IMO we should keep him till Jan and see what he can do

I wasn't there today and can't remember him doing much when I have seen him play. Be nice to know he is decent as we seem to have acquired a few "average" players recently. Majorly disappointed with Muntari, who I thought would at least fight for a place.

He's looked average. Nothing horrendous. Nothing spectacular. I say keep him as if we let him go now then we won't have any squad left!!

When he has played he looks like the odd man out, like he does not think he belongs there, on the outside. His goal today just may have given him the confidence boodt he needs so unless we get a daft offer lets keep him and give him a chance.

We could also loan him out. I agree with Jersey, his wages compared to Sess/Gyan cannot be beyond our budget.

To be fair, ALL of our new signings have initially looked average at best but given time some have proved to be worth their weight in gold. He's not exactly had a great run of games to prove himself has he?

He's not eating us out of house & home so give him a chnce.

definitely deserves a chance, always looks neat and tidy without being spectacular, i say give him another season and see how he goes

This lad confuses me.

When I saw him last year in Paraguay colours he looked awesome. He had a very good world cup, scoring and making it to the quarters as an ever present. He aint no mug on a footy pitch but put him in our colours and the EPL and he looked like he's been hit by a steam train.

Should we persevere? What would we get if he left? 1m? Less maybe? We might be better hanging on to him until January at least and see what his 2nd year will bring. We have nothing to lose really but maybe, just maybe a lot to gain if he starts to show his international form at club level.

PS - he took his goal very well yesterday. Technically, a very sound footballer.

Yes, Gary Rowell said something similar - he's a good player who's done nowt wrong in a Sunderland shirt. But he hasn't stamped his authority on an EPL game yet. I agree that such a well-taken goal might send him on his holdays thinking the EPL isn't beyond me - I can do this. It's maybe the boost he needed.

Beak - another good point. Get him on the weights. Julio Arca told the Sunday Times that when he first went into Sunderland's dressing room and looked around at the physiques, he thought 'whoops, something needs to change!' South American football is centred on ball control, not physical strength. Some like Tevez are muscular, but even he took three months to fit in at West Ham. Mascherano didn't play well for West Ham or Liverpool much in his first season. Give this lad a chance - and Angeleri if he's coming back. These guys are not dummies.

Presumably he has not been making a showing in training, but if he was OK why was Hendo run into the ground or Zendon not playing more and why pick Clatterhard?

Those are the sort of questions that have bred doubts about Bruce's credentials.

I think we should give him another season...He looked a great player in the World Cup and may just need a bit time to adjust to the change.

I too was impressed with the lad at the WC,rarely gave the ball away and looked dangerous on more than on ocassion.Huge question mark over whether he can adapt to the speed and physicality of our league. He is worth another shot though.
