I only just come online and haven't read though all of the thread so apologies if I'm going over old ground.
I think the "alternative point of view" line is just thrown in to disguise a wum. Whenever someone has come up with a genuine argument we've always been ready to debate with them. A lot of the time there are people just out to get a reaction and cause trouble and whilst they don't bother me too much, I think it gets tedious after a while.
A case in point was nof on the Piara Powar thread. No matter how many times people answered his point he just kept regurgitating his argument and twisting other people's words.
It's not offensive, but it is childish and boring and detracts from any real debate.
Anyone who is genuinely offensive can be banned outright as far as I'm concerned, but the silly, annoying ones are a different matter.
They need constant monitoring to make sure they don't just take over the thread and I'm not sure if our mods have the time or the inclination to be that diligent.

It doesn't take ALL the fun out of it (why would anyone do it if it did?) but it does become a bit of a burden at times. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about jacking it in a couple of times already and I've only been a mod since January!

This is also true, I don't ever recall a time when all the boards mods have been on at the same time (pre and post me / Bluff).

Bluff is a yank so only ever appears later on and all five of us have work commitments. How often do we appear at a weekend too?
 
Mainly I got the job to curtail any night shift troubles aka Ben Arfa Revenge and that mess. Weekends I might be on but normally am not as got footy, bar, out and about, etc. Same with ( in about 30 minutes) for about 5 hours will be at the fields coaching.

If work ever blocked this, I would be useless and rarely be around! <laugh>

Feel a bit harsh seeing as he isn't even a mod anymore <laugh>

Was just my genuine impression of him as a mod recently, could be way off the mark, but I hardly ever saw him post apart from when he was getting into arguments with supporters of other teams on here. Maybe I was just on at the wrong times and got a different impression to everyone else.

I just think you can't expect thjem to be robots that's all <ok> we all have lives and stresses and all I can say is if I was in that position having to deal with some of the divs we get on here I'd be much more of a **** than any of them (except Hash obviously <laugh>)

I didn't even think my post was that harsh! It was supposed to be a reasonable critique of a moderator who in my opinion had been acting a little inappropriately. If you disagree then fair enough!
 
Don't really see the point in this thread.

The people banned have been for good reason.

Our job is to moderate and make decisions which we have done.
