Myhill was a decent 'keeper but not great. He was a great servant to the club but not that great a 'keeper. He's of similar ability to Stockdale to be honest, Mannone was and is better than both of them, I'd be thrilled if we could get him back.

Totally agree. Both Myhill and Stockdale are accidents waiting to happen on every CK and high ball into the box. Myhill great close in shot stopper...incredible reactions...hopeless on long shots. Stockdale pussies out on every one on one with a striker...latest see Hendersons goal. Mannone far better than both...gives defenders confidence...tough as nails. Same as Schmeichel. Bo and Stockdale...not even close!

Agree about that, myhill always tended to badly parry long shots into the penalty area

    I was amazed it wasn't a foul.

I know no bugger actually touched him but whenever a 'keeper goes down it's always a foul for some reason. We've even had goals disallowed when the 'keeper has fouled the attacker who scored rather than vice versa.

    He's also made England squads...

That's mostly balls though. Myhill made some amazing long-range saves including several from Van Persie and Fabregas when we won at the Emirates. And Stockdale made a really good one on one save against Vaughan yesterday, wasn't scared at all.

Not had time to read this thread but if people are picking at Stockdale then thats incredible really but not surprising, there was a fair few on here thinking Guzan was substandard when we had him too. As an ex-keeper myself Stockdale I can say is well up to the task in hand. Keepers always come in for criticism as if they make a single mistake it usually stands out, he lost grip of the ball yesterday but came down to earth from a pretty good height and was there to try and take the ball.

I think stockdale is ****ing brilliant. He needs a little less crazy when he leaps out to punch or collect balls but otherwise he is a solid goalkeeper. we haven't had that since myhill.

I think the bigger worry for us is what we do with jakupovic and proschwitz considering they cost 3 million together.

we can't keep buying players , play thema couple times and then buy someone else to replace them.

If we go up (if), and Sunderland go down, then what about Mignolet? Bruce signed him and from what I've heard he's been by far one of their better players this season.

Can't imagine we'll see a better tackle all season.

The timing of the tackle, the position on the pitch and the time of the game right at the end.

Right, I've decided. I'm going to call it sensational.

Kinda see why Stockdale comes in for a bit of criticism - he seeme to have bottled a few one on ones - my take on that is, he probably doesn't want to get injured during his loan spell and is desperate to sign for us on a permanent. Also he hasn't had that many games and is still not up to speed this season.

As for him being a white ****e - like Dudge if he's good enough I could't give a fig..

Good basis to work on - liked Mannone but even he had his moments of madness - Boro home season before last?

Jakupovic and Proschwitz did not cost a combined fee of £3M.

Proschwitz cost less than £2.3M as that was the total spent on all players in the financial year we signed him. There may be add ons which can increase the fee in future, but they are appearance based, or based on us achieving promotion or other successes.

Jakupovic was a free transfer as he was in a contract dispute with his old club. That's why his international clearance took ages to come through. Unlike Aluko where we have to wait for the legal proceedings to finish before we know, Jakupovic definitely won't cost a fee in future as the matter was resolved and FIFA gave him proper clearance rather than temporary.

That's if he even saw them. How many 20-30 yarders sailed in over his head. He just couldnt pick up or judge a long shot. Classic one was the goalies kick in the US last year which just went clean over him and he didnt have a clue. Remember Richardsons goal for Sunderland. Many others. He needed his eyes tested.

Then again he could be amazing on the close in stuff. Away at Tottenham...Watford in the playoffs. As for high balls I never had any confidence in him. Stockdale is an average Championship GK at best. No thanks. He nearly bottled the Vaughan 50/50 yesterday.
