A position that neatly encompasses where Chelsea are now, DL. How convenient! I think Man Utd may have picked up a trophy or two to go with their European ones in the last 20 years too, but I forget what...
They quickly forget that this all stemmed from Liverpool falling out of the top 4 at out hands. We like many other sets of fans thought it was funny watching Liverpool's decline whilst their fans convinced themselves it was a one off season, then 2 seasons, 3 seasons, 4 seasons and it continues... The reaction we get is that we think we're big time because we're challenging for the CL places and blah, blah but the reality is that whilst we're enjoying our team doing much better than we have in the PL era. we'd still find it funny if we were still midtable too. Our position is irrelevent in it all but they keep biting and getting angry about it
My point is what have you won recently? Nothing. Where as we have. What have you won now? Nothing. Its an easy argument to bring up living off past glories. You don't have either to drop back on.
Spurs have never won anything? Clearly not true. We've not won anything recently? In the past 5 years we've won exactly the same thing that you have. The difference? We spend far less and we're moving in the right direction, yet we don't believe that we're entitled to anything. We're not trying to drop back on anything, as what's happened in the past is largely irrelevant to what's happening now and what will happen in the future. Chelsea had won 4 trophies prior to Matthew Harding's cash injection in 1994. Has that stopped them from going on to win a whole host more in the last 20-odd seasons?
A whole page of responses! Must have struck a nerve there...lol Deep down you all know Form is temporary, class is permanent!. (And One Direction - will split in the next year or so as their star tries to find greater glory.)
It took Liverpool around 10 years to do what United did in over 30. Anybody could have won the title with the significant financial advantages United had over everybody else from 1992-2003 I'm not here to referee but as we found out ourselves (and City will too if they haven't already) football in this country is akin to the class system, there is a burning desire to keep the status quo at the top, naturally when somebody upsets that ambition, they will attract vitriol. We'd feel the same if the roles were reversed. Selfishness and myopia is part of human nature.
Not wiping them out but when RA came in there was United, 5 years later there was City. United have a good decade of being able to spend significantly more than anybody else due to the Edwards share issue and somehow being able to sell shares for well over double their worth.
Being constantly promoted by the main broadcaster in the sport who happened to own a 10% stake in the club didn't have anything to do with that, I'm sure. Pure coincidence.
Well it took a Labour Government to intervene and stop them/him having 100% after the FA were happy to turn a blind eye
Possibly. But, I doubt that they'll be back in 25-30 years trying to remind everybody how good they once were!..
Ah, Pontins! I remember a bunch of us going there for a weekend piss up years ago. We were asked to leave due to " inappropriate behaviour" I didn't realise that ****hole was still going!..
I think there are still a few going in great places like Bognor and Weston Super Mare, unless they have all been swallowed up by the Holiday Giants that are Butlins and Centre Parks.lol Hope they do still exist, where else could you go and see a double bill of Black Lace followed by Jimmy Cricket!
