I wanna what the fu£k is going on! We signed him 2 months ago if that ain't enough to get him fit then what the bloody hell has he been doing? Swanning about in the poll get him in v Norwich and see how he is.
Yoshida didn't have a bad game. Fonts and boruc were far too casual in possession around our box. Fonts tried his hardest to give the ball away in dangerous areas and should have gave away a pen. If boruc had put his boot through the goal kick then yoshida would not have been pressured for there second goal. If forren is fit our starting line could easily be yoshida and forren imo.
Yeah I think Yoshida gets a bad rap, although obviously he did make a mistake for their second goal. He's been our most consistent centre-half this season though for me. Not that that's saying much admittedly! Forren's absence even from the bench is utterly baffling. It's another example of a peculiar signing: Lee, Mayuka, now Forren. All high-profile signings who have not really been given a chance. Between Mayuka and Forren we've spent £7m-odd. I really struggle to understand why they are not given a sniff of first-team action when we have the likes of Fox and even De Ridder before his loan away regularly getting onto the pitch. For the last time, there was no contact!
Yoshida was horrendous yesterday! He gave the ball away almost every time he got it under possesion. He made a few last ditch tackles, but gernally makes things look harder then what they are. Forren HAS to start soon.
Lesson in sticking with your gut instincts. When QPR scored their second goal yesterday, I instantly blamed Yoshida without a moment's hesitation. Those around me then spent the next hour convincing me it was actually either Shaw's fault or, going back slightly earlier, Boruc's fault (for trying to play out from the back, when QPR have players close). And they actually did a job in convincing me. But seeing the highlights back, I went back to my initial thought straight away. At one point, Yoshida has a couple of yards on Park. No way should, five seconds later, Park be completely free, ball at feet, and in a position to cross it.
With Pochettino's style of play surely Fonte has to be one of his two centre halves, while Yoshida's reading of the game is great, on the ball he is atrocious, and he distribution is very poor. What always made Fonte standout was his ability with the ball at his feet, and he's actually a pretty decent passer. If Forren is good with the ball, I expect it to be Fonte and Forren.
I personally think Yoshida's problems originate up in his head rather than down at his feet. Mistakes seem to seriously impact his confidence and make him prone to making more, to the point he becomes barely able to touch the ball without some form of panic. That was evident in one of the games he played right back early on (I forget which) and again, to a lesser extent, yesterday. The boy has ability but he needs to toughen up his nut.
I think come the end of the season we may well look back and think, if only we had signed a couple of top class central defenders? We all knew last year in the Championship that the defence was fragile to say the least, ok going forward, but ****e on the backfoot. We could be sitting pretty had it not been for schoolboy mistakes at the back, think Forren's got his work cut out if he ever gets in the team?. On the few occasions QPR got forward yesterday you could almost feel the tension in the crowd, and sure enough......
I'm not saying he didn't screw up, but Bothroyd was unmarked in the 6-yard box. Once Park did have the opportunity to cross it was a certain goal and that should not be the case. That's not Yoshida's fault.
Although I want to finish as high as possible this year...realistically I want safety and then hope problems get sorted out in the summer. We have been pleased with the team in recent months, so no need to get too down after one poor game.
I thought Yoshida had an excellent game up until their 2nd goal. People saying 'Lets just chuck Forren in against Norwich and see how he does. It's a bit of a relegation 6 pointer, a massive game so I don't think 'chucking someone in' is the best idea you've ever had. For what ever reason he's not getting picked so i trust Poch that he is either not fit enough, not accustomed to the way we play, or not good enough.
Because we bought him right at the end of the window...leads me to suspect that our initial targets had failed. Don't know...just a feeling.
