Lol, so after Arsegun schooled you, you now say you're just twisting my words? LOL, from bad to faillllllllllll. You weren't trying to twist my words, you just don't understand the usage of my words, which Arsegun educated you on.
Anyway like I said you sound happy the team is ****ing up so people will join the WOB. This is just going to go round in circles, so I'm done with this argument.
On the Wenger issue - let him see out a contract till next year. He has rejected many big clubs - Real a few times when he was in Contract if football fans go on about loyalty we owe it to him now. Don't offer him a new one unless a miraculous change happens next year and start looking for a replacement. Moyes, Mourinho, Klopp, in the younger brigade and Ancelotti, Hiddink Van Gaal in the older brigade.
Exactly, I havent seen many of these people wanting Arsene out that can suggest a viable (that is 'good enough', AVAILABLE, REALISTIC ) alternative.
Frank de Boer. Or Pelligrini possibly. My personal choice would be de Boer. He plays good football, is a young, modern coach but with experience of both fantastic youth development and winning titles, and has learned the Ajax Ethos. Others seem to favour ex player Reme Garde who is doing well in France currently.
We have money available to strengthen so the Pro Arsene Wenger argument holds MUCH less weight now. I dont really want to see him fired I wanted to see him spend some money and make a genuine attempt at challenging. I cant see this happening so perhaps a change of manager is now our only option. The guy is still a top manager but whats the point in keeping a manager who is not willing to operate on the same playing field as everyone else? As good as he is - becoming the best club in the country is not a priority for Arsene. Someone with less talent but more drive would not necessarily be a bad thing. It seems to me Wengers concept for spending is bigger than his love for Arsenal.
As much as it rankles with me I have to agree with the interview given by SAF to football focus last week. He knows that ManUre would not put up with him going this long without winning a trophy.
He never even said that , suggest you learn to read. He said that the good news , is that MORE AND MORE FANS are waking up to the smell the coffee. NOT that the good news is that we are failing . But you choose to read it the way you want to.
jeez this has been done to death , this may surprise you but Arsene wenger is NOT the only good football coach in the universe. and this may upset you , he is due to retire soon ..........are we set to implode then by your logic. ? Of course we wont . The world will continue to turn and the sun will still rise long after he has hit the trail.... Step out from the shadow of his glorious past , its safe out here in the light. Honest .
No of course not. Neither would Bayern, Barca, Chelsea, Inter, AC, Real... But at the same time our club know that Wenger has'nt been operating on a level playing field. Wengers more socilaist approach was perfect for a club trying to pay off a stadium. The crazy thing now though is that our board feel they have to come out and PUBLICALLY announce there is money available in the hope Wenger will try and be more competitive in the transfer window. Did'nt work though.
more so when he SAID "we are ready to spend big " and then buys ONE left back.......... He takes the piss with his flip flopping.
I actually think that Wenger is the best coach in the PL but is too modest to know that. As a consequence he gets above average performances from a pretty average squad but he attributes the results to having excellent players. Consequently he pays them too much and finds it hard to see how to get better ones in. If so then the most likely outcome of getting rid of him is a very poor season unless the incoming coach is allowed to spend massively.
I think it's obvious i don't wnt Wenger out. He has done wonders at the club and some fans act like spoilt little children ignoring that. Desperate cries for loyalty from players and then none shown to the Manager - ridiculous. He has to be allowed to see out his contract at a minimum or i will have lost faith in the club. Also the article linked is terrible - suggesting that fighting each other is the answer to some pissed off idiot fans view that Wenger should leave is just a display of disgusting human behaviour. Honestly he should be ashamed of himself. Human beings should be physicaly abusing each other in public in front of children? For the purpose of losing an old man his job? It's a ****ing disgrace. Honestly alot of football fans need to grow up. Oh and Arsegun - your WW2 analogy wasn't perfectly good it was laughably inaccurate. You need to firstly use something that is CURRENT and ON-GOING for your analogy to make any sense at all. Comparing the ON-GOING results at a football club and an already finished war with already determined results is not the same thing, at all, in any way shape or form. I'm shocked you think it works as an analogy tbh! OR you could use WW2 or a historic event but from the viewpoint of being half way through that event, not at the end. For example, During the Labour governments reign you may have used the example "The good thing about us continueing to kill people in Iraq, and undoubtedly we will keep killing them, is that more people will vote Conservative" - As it's a war example it is blown out of proportion as your comparing football results to the deaths of innocent people. It makes it very difficult for an Analogy to work and is using a dramatic subject to try and have more effect. Personally i can see why oxocube thinks A87 is acting pleased with us doing badly. I can also see where you have quoted the comment and used bold to highlight the word "as" to show the literal meaning of the sentence. But considering A87's general view-point on everything Arsenal you can see why oxocube has reacted the way he has. He hardly needs berating for it!
Oh and people who expected Wenger to go and spend £60million or whatever on players in January are the deluded ones. If you think thats how football works then your muppets tbh Now that money is available we need to give him a Summer transfer window at the very least to see how his spending policy will change. Football fans are so inpatient it's unreal. Even when the signs of imporvment and a better future are crystal clear and laid out in front of you, some people choose to ignore it and only focus on being pissed off with current results. It's a shame some people can't see the big picture.
Why? The board announced money was available in Decemeber. Why do you think they did that? ...Because its the month prior to January perhaps?? There were more bargains this January, than the last Summer window thus pretty much dispelling the myth that you cant get good players in that Window.
The comments where actually mainly focused around the new financial deals which we haven't felt the effect of yet. Also the board saying we have money to spend isn't the same as the players we want being available at the time. As i've said before we shouldn't panic buy or we will just take on deadwood. I'd rather we wait 'til the summer and do our business properly. I'm not saying we could not have used an extra addition in January (for example Villa or Capoue who we where trying to sign....). And the bargains that went in the summer are either not good enough for Arsenal or have gone on transfers which seemed like they had been in the making for a while e.g. Llorente, or we couldn't compete with the wages other clubs would offer e.g. Ba. I really don't think you can just list a load of players who transfer and go "there you go, proof we should have signed players". I remember a load of fans going on about howe Jose Enrique had gone to Liverpool and we had issed out and how stupid Wenger was for not signing this great player on the cheap. Now even Loserpool are looking to off-load him. People forget that just because we see a player and think they are decent does NOT mean they are actually good enough or would actually make a positive impact!
And everyone knows Summer is easier to buy players due to it not being half way through a season - clubs are more willing to sell as they have time to buy replacements and players are mroe willing to move clubs as they are not half-way through a season. Whether bargains are available or not doesn't matter to me - A summer transfer window with proper funds available is the only way we can judge what Wengers spending policy will be moving forward. IF come the end of summer we have not improved the squad with poroper quality players THEN i will question the direction we are trying to move in. At the moment basing it on a january transfer window when we strengthened 1 of the 3 positions we wanted to strengthen and attempted to strengthen the other two positions (Monreal, Capoue, Villa), and considering our most recent signings (Cazorla, Giroud, Podolski), is a little premature i think.
I try to avoid these arguments regarding our manager because they are so filled with negativity but both arguments for and against Wenger make good points. I often read A87s comments and think he makes some good and fair points albeit in an aggressive way which can sometimes lead people to miss the validity of his views. IMO sacking Wenger before his contract ends is not the answer. I have been so frustrated by some of our performances this season that I too have called for his head at times but I believe the man should be given the summer to see if he is serious about spending money on the 2 world class players we need in a DM position and CB. Wenger has shown us unrivalled loyalty it's only right that we pay him the same respect. I don't see him continuing for much longer after 2014 so we might as well prepare for the inevitable anyway but until then let's support him until his tenure is over. He has one more transfer window left to make a difference lets give him that chance at least.
Why? If Wenger is not up to it and is going to leave in 2014, why not sack him now (or at the latest 20th May 2013) and get in his successor? You observe that Wenger is not the future of Arsenal FC. Therefore, why persist in letting Wenger continue with his unsatisfactory methodology, which merely prolongs the damage to the playing staff and the ambitions of the club, when the new man could be brought in forthwith?
