That maybe so, but it's a completely different issue from our finances. The article was trying to equate Wenger using finances as an excuse for not matching Chelsea, City etc but being happy to take a massive pay check. That is disingenuous in the extreme.
The "defensive" issues are that we let in too many goals. That is not a tactical assessment, it is just a statistic. You can't tie that to Wenger's tactics, it is about the defense not being as good as the attackers on too many occasions. The tactics have changed over the years. It's one of the reasons I didn't think Bould would make much difference. It isn't about style, it is about pressure. We lost to Blackburn because we didn't score when we had the chance and then we had to throw on attackers to push on, and attack. We were caught napping when we brought on all the subs. It isn't a tactical issue, it is the fact that there was no spark of genius to score goals.
