As portfolio holder for leisure, I am sure that Mr Geraghty is fully aware of the stadium finances. Well you'd think he would wouldn't you? Yeah right?
A few clueless rebel rousers on a board with poor moderators that can't handle open debate has achieved what exactly? We now know Mr Whiteley is very well respected by all that have met him and deservedly so, but most people didn't know who he is. As for the pictures, Ehab says "Hull FC specifically instructed us to take them all down." They demanded equal treatment. They now have our and the Allams support in that. It'll cost them best part of £300,000 and knock a few off their passholder numbers. Their board could comment, but is choosing not to. Mr Allam is asking for a full public discussion on the contracts. Remind me who are the victims and who are the bad guys? Which group's version of events on message boards most matches the current public version? http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/Hull-FC-memorabilia-row-Ehab-Allam-admits/story-18155361-detail/story.html
Hull City will be playing in a new arena within 2 years. It has to. The KC is dead.... long live the "Seimens Stadium". The fact is that unless the KC can be run in a reasonable and viable manner, it is doomed. Just how does the city council expect the stadium to function at a loss! When a building starts to require major investment in maintainance, costs rise. Commercial landlords understand that unless they foot the bill, it is better to release the building to the tenants. When the projected costs out way the lease revenue over term, it is acceptable to sell at a vastly reduced level. There is no future with the present lease. The council cannot raise funding against the stadium, whilst the SSMC could. But why would it if the development is restricted to the stadium, nothing but a loss making machine there. The land around the KC and Walton Street is a prime flat developable area, it meets many of the demands of developers. Access and infrastructure are viable. But Melton is better for the club!
I ve said before that Tesco could have an important part to play in this. After years of trying to obtain unopposed planning permission at the Brough/Elloughton junction for a 'super' store, they strangely and without reason abandoned all ideas of this project last year (i think). So consider: 1) The Allams have support from East Yorkshire Council. 2) Presumably, Tescos still want a store in the area. 3) Dr Allam has suggested the involvement/support of Sport England. 4) The potential premiership financial pot. 4) Dr Allam's entreprenurial support and enthusiasm. Add to this a few Tescos & Bannotines type facilities, and this could happen
Such partnership would make building a new stadium a hell of a lot easier. However I still cant see us moving out of Hull. (As much as it would make it easier for me)
One minute councillors are getting involved, the next minute it's nothing to do with them... "That could, and should, have been handled much better," said Cllr Brady. "As it is, the council appears to be getting a kicking, which is unfair when it's really something between the SMC and Hull FC."
Very good post that i with agree with 100%. Its Adam Pearson that needs to make a statement now as the longer he delays the more damage it will do to Adams street cred. Ive always wondered why whoever owns Hull City has to own the SMC ? That should have been an independant company of both the football and rugby clubs and also the council. Its been wrong from day one imo. So back to Adam Pearson and his answers to many questions. Afterall, was not Adam Pearson the one who played a big part in drawing up the SMC agreements in the first place ??
The SMC was supposed to be owned jointly by City and FC, but FC didn't want any involvement in case it ended up costing them, so Adam took control of the whole thing.
Hardly a distraction from the Tigers PL bid is it ? The national press are hardly jumping on this story either. Football wants rid of all rugby league clubs from grounds and stadiums....dont they ??
Fair enough. But i still think it should have been an independant company of all parties involved. So again Hull FC only have themselves to blame dont they ??
As it was AP who took control of the SMC for the football club in the first place, he's not really in a position to criticise the arrangement now.
Now thats a laugh. Then again he can downsize TWS with great pleasure. But back to the KC debate. There is no way in hell that HCC can run the SMC. FFS, they are having to close a library that costs pennies by comparrison. Adam Pearson does not and will not come out of this at all well in the end. imo.
Politicians will play to the gallery and chase votes. I think a few in there have been under the delusion that rugby is popular in Hull, when what this has shown once again is that it's a deluded minority that believe that and the reality is very, very different.
Many FC fans are also City fans. I would like to know just how many Rugby Only fans FC actually do have. ? I dont mind it on the tv but i only go when a free ticket is offered. Rugby League is a pointless sport nowadays. imo Bring back promotion and relegation first of all. But thats a whole new debate......
Never been to a rugby game or favoured either team ... But all the **** the FC fans have thrown at the Allams I now hope Rovers do well..
