Back to the original point, the FC plastics over on that rlfans board are still regurgitating the same old ****e and thinking the statement just puts FC in a bad light. If it puts either club in a bad light I'd say it would be city due to Bartlett borrowing against the SMC, and in partnership with all the other rising costs, it seems that loan has been holding the SMC round the throat.

From what I've read about what that Jack Whitehall bloke has done for the city, I'd like to think the Allams would sway just a bit and allow his room and pictures to remain free of charge just to save from dishonouring what seems like a truly great bloke, as he shouldn't charge city for windass, but I'm guessing that ones probably the deal clincher and without the sentiment behind that FC probably wouldn't give a **** about any of the other photos. As we keep saying, businessmen, no sentiment in business and you gotta be ruthless to achieve your goals.

Yeah he was a much better RL larker then that Johnny Whiteley fella

Firstly can I say, I have no problem with the Allams investing in Hull City and indeed the City of Hull. However, please remember that they, just like Adam Pearson, are successful businessmen and they have n't made their money by giving it away. There is no such thing as a 'gift' or a 'free-lunch' so to speak. They will want their pound of flesh somewhere along the way, and if Hull City benefit as a result then good on em. I am sure that if they are in it for the long haul, there will also be some direct upset for the fans and no doubt reasons for the flat-earth society from Guildhall and Boulevard to gloat!

Indeed, I still don't think that this 'gift' to Hull KR was without strings. Why would any businessmen give anyone else anything?

But once again that is what free enterprise is all about, and is how a capitalist society prospers and develops. There are always winners and losers and without getting too deeply into Marxist theory, overall society gains but the status quo will destroy itself in cycles.

Are you saying that "businessmen" are incapable of any action that is purely altruistic?

I've never understood this argument at all. People assume that businessmen cannot, by some universal law, ever do anything that isn't motivated by profit.

I am still shaking my head in amazement that there is all this fuss over hanging pictures of Sporting greats in a Sports stadium. I am involved in an athletic club and we have a picture of Paula Radcliffe which was given to KUHAC and is now displayed at Costello, another sports stadium owned by the Council. Is anyone going to charge us for that. I just can't get my head around the whole stupid situation, cmon how bare would the rooms look without some sporting memoribilia and why the hell should anyone be charged for it.

It's not about pictures, that's just the excuse. This row has been brewing for a long time.

Businessmen do not need to be driven by profit all the time.

The Allam's stated motivation is to put our club, and the SMC on a SOLID, self running footing. Like good businessmen would do.

It's not just about sticking some photos on a wall, its about claiming, and using a room as a private function area but without paying for it.

Strov, not gonna quote your ranty post but, I almost clapped when I read that. Spot on Sir, spot on.

The pictures thing is a very convenient way to get this out in the open I think, the bigger problem.

It does sound like City and the SMC have had their pants pulled down a bit by the rugby team and the council. And it does sound like things are not well balanced at all.

I sometimes think when walking to the KC that already parts of it are looking tired. It's only just 10 years old! Corners have definitely been cut, and that's not on. The speaker system in the East stand...it might as well not be there. Someone's not met their obligations. This seems to expose that, and it needs sorting.

Also, I enjoyed Strov's post too, you can be really quite articulate when you put your mind to it!

fook off!

I vaguely remember the mortgage being taken out by the SMC and I didn't understand it either.

More than anything else, this has made Geraghty look a complete imbecile.

LOOKS AN IMBECILE ? :emoticon-0105-wink: He has been one for years. I posted the other day that Adam Pearsons silence was deafening and now we know why. But the SMC fiasco goes back to Duffermans time.

IMO, if the LibDems win the next local elections then i think they will deal with the Allams. This could be the long game that Papa Allam is playing.

As for FC Dullers, they can always downsize and move in / ground share with HKR.

Wonder what they're going to get out of University of Hull Mussie?

no idea but in my experience, there is no such thing as a free lunch. but hey if they win, the City and the University wins I would presume?

Did Dr Allam get a doctrate? and what better flag to fly when doing business around the world? Just a thought like!

Allam has frequently made reference to his gratitude for his adoptive home in the East Riding of Yorkshire, and has made several philanthropic gestures to the area including providing support to several local grassroots sports clubs, making donations to the Hull Truck Theatre, as well as becoming a trustee of the Daisy Appeal, a medical research fund at the local Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham. He has stated he feels an obligation to pay back the region for his success. In September 2010, it was speculated that he was interested in investing in Hull City A.F.C., the local football team, which had been relegated from the Premier League earlier in 2010 with extensive financial problems.[2]

Duh. Business is motivated by profit. Losses mean that businessmen don't stay businessmen for long? maybe it it is that Kudos he gets from doing these acts that gives him more creditabilty in doing business. I still have never met a true philanthopist
