If you think players aren't aware of how fans feel about them then you are incredibly naive. There is a general negative attitude toward Ade at the moment, highlighted by Spurs fans on this forum. You may not boo him, but you aren't going to sing his name either, and the two go hand in hand.
The two do not go hand in hand as you put it. You make it seem as if people 'have' to sing a players name to prove their loyalty to the player, which is complete tosh. This will probably bore the pants off you, but I come from an age where I still expect certain standards from a footballer and anyone coming into the club I love should be reasonably expected to conform to some of these standards. Adebayor fails to meet these standards in my opinion, both before his Spurs days and now during his Spurs days. I don't have much time for the bloke, I don't feel I should have to sing his name at games. This doesn't make me any less of a fan than anyone else, it merely means I am not one of the sycophantic many who gave him dogs abuse at the Lane a few years ago when he played for other teams, but now have jumped over the fence and sing his praises. My conscience is clear, I went on 606 when Harry signed him and regsitered my disgust then, and I'll continue sticking to my principles thank you.
I too was in the minority when he was signed O.Spurcat and I hope he does something between now and the end of the season to prove me wrong. I'm just wondering if the AFCON can be played in our close season so as not to take our players away.
you can tell me when i said i wouldnt sing his name? Overall I'm looking forward to seeing Ade return to form which ive mentioned many a time recently. When Ade shows passion the general feeling is a positive one so as you can see it works both ways as players need to show fight and actually Ade was great last year. As for players not being aware of how fans feel, again where did i say tbey arent? in general fans have no problem with Adebayor however he is a player that will never win everyone over, hence it being fine for any fan to offer their view on a forum (positive or negative).
He cant force fans to love him but considering he won many fans over last year(who hated him before) then all he has to do is show he has passion for the club, as most fans don't have an issue. So if Adebayor " falls out of love" with the club and wants a move then as you say its an excuse, the same old excuse.
He can't force fans to love him, but it seems to be what his ego needs in order to give his all for a club.
I think if it is played in our close season it will clash with the world cup and /or the European championship, not Hundred% sure about that though
It sounds like he has been very selfish. Having a nice extended holiday in the full knowledge that we have a striker shortage. If he fails to perform against Newcastle he ought to be disciplined.
I think it is played in odd number years, so wouldn't clash with either. Although clashing with Euros would be ideal.
The rumour is that Ade didn't arrive back yesterday and so hasn't trained today. If that's true and he hasn't got a proper reason for this then he can **** right off.
The clue is in the word, mate. Possibly worth waiting until rumour becomes fact?? (Although if that happens then I will be right there with you....)
well i guess the rumour will be confirmed within the next few hours... But there isn't usually smoke without fire. I'm skeptical as you all know, but as I said in the Match thread, something is definitely up, IMO. This whole ACON scenario has been ridiculous. If he isn't back, I think we've seen the last of Ade in a Spurs shirt. If this is the case, let's give Kane a run and get behind the lad! COYS!
It's probably just a knock-on from earlier in the week. I read in the South-African press that Ade told the rest of the Togo team not to get on the flights that were booked for them (normal scheduled seats). He offered to charter a private aircraft. Reportedly he then failed to charter a plane (for whatever reason, they didn't know) which meant that no one could leave their hotel. The hotel wanted the rooms back as they had booked new guests in following Togo's exit and Ade was left to sort out all the problems he had caused. Sounds a total f-up to me.
http://naijapose.com/adebayor-causes-hotel-problems-in-south-africa/ Not clear from this exactly why it was Adebayors 'fault' but this account does support one aspect - that it was the Togo FA plans for the squad to return to Togo via Jo'Burg which would explain any initial delay in his return. No doubt the full story will emerge in due course.
