Maybe, just maybe Pochettino and the coaching staff know a bit more about how good our players are and what we need to improve than us? Just a thought guys...
I agree. I probably wouldn't start him there but bringing him on for the last 20 mins against a tiring fullback could, in theory, be an effective tactic.
I reckon that some thought was given to an extra attacking player but the deal didn't materialise. Not a disaster nor particularly surprising giving the lack of movement that went on in January. We do have Lallana back so I think we will be ok.
Pretty disappointed we didn't make one more signing if I'm honest. I thought changing the manager during the transfer window might have been with a view to bringing players in but obviously not, so there's another element of mystery about the timing. I think the outgoings are sensible though, we have a big squad full of players who aren't good enough so getting some of them out the door even temporarily is probably a good thing. De Ridder's only going for a month initially, so everyone talking about him like he's gone for good should perhaps curb their excitement a little bit. Just have to hope that Forren is up to the task, Lallana gets back to his best quickly, Mayuka's return gives us a bit of a boost, and Punch and Boruc sign new contracts. If all that happens then the transfer window will be considered a measured success in retrospect. I have a nasty feeling we might regret not buying a winger though.
De Ridder can run fast and that's about it, soon as he has the ball his head goes down and he just runs. Already in the few games this season he has had he has missed a easy pass because he looks down all the time. Last season was even worse, we could have easily one a few more games in the last minutes if he looked up.
Short interview with Ben Reeves here if anyone is interested:
If anyone cares enough to want to see the full interview, you can use your saints player login on the blues player as well (and any other club's version too).
If he's gone to league two on loan at his age, there's really nothing worth taking interest in. Good luck to him. Should be playing at league one or better.
I'm inclined to agree, though Lambert was playing in league two at that age, so it's not always the case.
There's something about going from Stockport to Rochdale that apparently prepares one to be an unexpected Premier League goal-scoring machine.
Odemwingie moaning like a little kid and saying WBA approached him illegally when they signed him from Spartak.
