We have truly become the try before you buy club. I think it makes good business sense to have a look at how a player adapts to a new club, new system, new city/country.

What a cock-up by Roma on the Stekelenberg transfer saga.
They pull out off deal when he is on the plane to sign for Fulham, but they are unable to
get a replacement in by 18:00 Transfer closure time in Italy so they recall Stekelenberg!!!!
Same happen with Giganac last season from Marseille.
But what I don't get is that they had all transfer window to do business and get a replacement,
so what went wrong, especially as we were in for him in the summer. Now I can see us getting
guzumped in the summer as if reported the deal will go now through in the summer.

And what will this do to Schwarzer's form who now knows he might be surplus ?
He doesn't have any competition for the rest of the season.

A new meaning to the phrase, "the deal's up in the air"?

Sorry, SuperBri, shouldn't be frivolous - I agree with all your points and especially about Schwarzer.

Gossip this afternoon said we were in for Butland, with a loan back deal. so this one seems to have gone tits up.
We do need a keeper,if not in this window, then in the summer

An interesting assessment from Yuri Varbanov, a Bulgarian fan familiar with our new Bulgarian (the broken English is not me!):

Yuri Varbonov said:
To all the english fans who are not familiar with Manolev`s career and atyle of play-Stanislav IS A RIGHT WINGER,\something like Dejjagah but times better\!!He isn`t and will never be a defensive player! And that was his problem in PSV,they tried to use him as a RB...,for Bulgaria he plays on his position as an attacking midfielder and if you want you may ask Giorgio Chiellini about Manolev`s skills.Trust me the italian won`t say a bad word about Stanislav, not after the nightmares our boy gave me him in the autumn.SO if Jol uses him wisely enough you`ve loaned yourself one hell of an attacking player, if not...you should have kept Kelly!

Oh yes,and be ready to witness the one and only first touch of the ball "ala Manolev"...You`ll like it!He possesses great crossing skills, technique, pace and long-range shooting.Pretty decent jumping and heading abilities, but once he jumps onto attack almost 99.9% of the time he forgets to return and cover the gaps in defence. That`s way Stanislav shouldn`t be used as a defender once he has someone to back him up he feels relaxed and can show all of his skills.

Sounds as though what the Captain was saying about the Italians getting their own back because of the Berba signing was correct. Apparently Roma pulled out because Fiorentina renaged on selling them goal keeper Emiliano Viviano at the last minute.

I was sorry to see that Brek Shea the tallented American winger has gone to Stoke.
At 22 and only 2mil, he could turn out to be the new CD.
Will be interesting to se if he hacks it in the PREM!.

Agreed rosc. The bummer of all transfers though must be Jack Butland going to the same Stoke and for only £3m.

What were we doing??
