Burn on the bench is fine for next season, but the futures of all three of our CB's are in doubt with two out of contract and the other out of form. Butland in the summer, new CB to partner Hangeland and a striker/CM are we are all set. Get to work Jol!
Latest from the BBC's deadline day rolling news thread: It appears Fulham are set for a busy old day. No update yet on Urby Emanuelson's loan move from AC Milan but European football expert Andy Brassell says the Cottagers could be set to sign a much-needed defensive midfielder. "Ajax's Eyong Enoh is set to be reunited with his former boss Martin Jol on a six-month loan deal, according to Elf Voetbal. The 26-year-old Cameroonian has played over 130 first-team games since arriving Amsterdam in 2008. "Jol's spending in his home country is unlikely to end there, with a number of sources reporting that PSV right-back/midfielder Stanislav Manolev is undergoing a medical with the Cottagers ahead of inking a six-month loan deal. It is believed that Fulham have the option to sign the 27-year-old Bulgarian on for a further three years if the move works out." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/21272160
Final Day Re-Cap As of 1pm today, this appears to be where we are - based on all the usual rumours * Tom Huddlestone move appears to have been put on hold. * A bid has been lodged of £4 million for Birmingham 'keeper Jack Butland although, if the deal goes ahead, he may be loaned back to the club for the remainder of the season * Consequent to that ? Still in for goalkeeper, Maarten Stekelenburg, although Martin Jol is now looking at a loan deal as opposed to a permanent transfer. The player's agent, Rob Jansen, said: "We work very hard to get a deal." . * The club have made an enquiry as to the availability of Bolton striker, David N'Gog * Jol is pondering over an offer for Derby County midfielder, Will Hughes. * Marc Overmars tells De Telegraaf that Fulham are interested in signing Eyong Enoh, the midfielder, from Ajax. * Martin Jol has admitted he is in the market for a right back, opening the door for Stanislav Manolev to join the club. * We have opened discussions with Valenciennes over a move for centre back, Nicolas Isimat-Mirin * The deal for Junior Malanda, of Zulte Waregem, could be off, with Fulham looking unwilling to meet the club's €6 million asking price.
Not sure I believe stuff that comes out of Ajax, as there seemed a lot of bitterness between Ajax and Jol. And the same thing went on with a few of their players last transfer window. But maybe things cooled as we did sell them Danny Hoesen.
Final Day Recap Just adding another two for completeness and updating that Huddlestone deal is (apparently) off:
Butland isn't confirmed, but it is all but. That means Begovic will be on the move in the summer then. £10m?! For Huddlestone?! Classic Spurs, wanting silly money for their reserves.
Rumours are that Pajtim Kasami is off to Pescara (Italy) "Non c'è solo il Napoli a monitorare Pajtim Kasami. ... di Mino Raiola, piace anche ad altri club italiani: ci pensa il Pescara"
Also rumours of West Brom coming in for Chris Baird. I hope not, and Steve Clarke has said all through the window he's not looking to get anyone in.
Steklenberg prevented from boarding plane due to Roma being unable to find a replacement. No Butland and no Steklenberg. Well done.
Yeah, Martin Jol is useless, he should've found Roma a replacement keeper as well! Now we don't have any goalkeepers! Ahem.
Do you have to take everything so literal? Frustration at the situation, not at the club (well, not Fulham) Thought you were leaving the forum for a while anyway?
Anyone else yearning for an English player to sign? I accept that English players come with a premium cost, and I'm no xenophobe, but 3 (Richardson, Sidwell and Briggs, I think?) English players isn't many, especially with the PL squad rules.
This is Gignac all over again. Clubs should be prevented from being able to pull the plug at the last moment. Steklenberg is their NUMBER TWO keeper. Surely their third choice can sit on the bench for 3-4 months?
