Anyone know of any holding midfielders that would be willing to join the Gills cause for promotion in the 2nd half of season? We certainly need one. I don't mind volunteering myself for the role Young, decent passer, not afraid of a challenge, good vision for people in space. Pick me Mad Dog!
We are now being linked with another ex Gills player in Luke Rooney. Paulo Di Canio has told him that he can leave on a free transfer. Would we want him back after his terrible attitude? Although £200,000-£300,000 for a player we would get 12 months later on a free transfer is not a bad deal though
We have miles weston in that position. We need to concentrate on a holding midfielder. Someone willing to get stuck in. Good passer. Good positional play. Danny jackman??
I wonder if Mad Dog is the man to finally train Rooney. I always thought he looked a great player, he just needs a good manager to beat some sense into him.
Oh this would have to be the best laugh I will have had all season, if there is the slightest bit of truth in this and it came off. I'm in tears already and you ALL know why (accept newbies), I was practically called crazy for supporting Rooney when he was here and yet in the words of bristol407 and all those that on one hand slagged Rooney off big style, yet might be part of Martin Allen's following faithful...MAdness I would love to see MA sign Rooney because then it really would highlight the double standard comments from supporters. Please remember my post is purely one of dark humour and I am honestly finding this hilarious.
I always like Rooney it must be said, in fact when I went to see us play Ashford for the first pre-season a couple years back I remember saying to a lot of people he was the future of the club if we could rein him in.
throwoff - I tell you mate I would love it if this came off, reminds me of this... My humour is running away with me this morning now, must be time for my medication.
Someone please give me a link to the Rooney story I want to cry some more with laughter... please don't tell me this is all made up
Rooney thought he was better than us before and clearing wasn't. Swine don't want him, Burton weren't impressed and neither was the delightful Evans (marriage made in heaven there). Personally would rather he didn't return.
Petulant and prone to tantrums. However if gained on a free and given some of MA's medicine...and on a monthly basis... it could work. If not.....nothing lost.
For your amusement brb: http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/.../10190075.Di_Canio_reveals_Rooney_exit_talks/
He is being released, as per that swindonadvertiser link. But the only mention of us wanting him is on that ever reliable "football forums" website. So, yes, basicallly it is all made up. I am amazed that people keep on saying "we are linked with...." purely because of that site. It is all completely made up, except for the odd 1 or 2 among the many rumors.
I would welcome Rooney back, but feel we have far more pressing requirements, at least 2 central midfielders are required an enforcer and a playmaker, he could be the playmaker i guess, in my opinion both Weston and Whelpdale are better out wide than Rooney, but he would make an interesting 'option' though.
Keefy - There's no need to get all uppity about it. This thread is after all called the "Rumour Mill"
I did see that rumour but Sheffield United fans have rubbished the rumour. The club is under a strict transfer policy at the moment and they can't afford that large amount of money.
Pleased to hear that, one because we are running out of midfielders and two in my opinion he is the one player we have currently who might produce something out of nothing.
