Just saw the Chaplow/De Ridder thing on Saintsweb. I guess that's the source for the Fermino stuff as well.

Seems a bit counter-productive to unsettle your own team's players and mess with your own team's fans. But then, the Saintweb posters have never been the sharpest tools in the shed.

I don't think it's going to be either of those guys now to be honest. I think it's going to be someone right out of left field, although I think it will be a pleasant surprise. When are the team coming back from Spain?

Cagliari have backtracked and have now said he wont be for sale until the summer, as they are looking down the barrel of relegation at the moment so don't want to sell.

Then I guess I was wrong on both players. Shows what I know!

Coutinho doesn't surprise me that much. Seemed clear he preferred LFC, just wasn't sure if they would meet the asking price.
 
According to Tancredi Palmeri, Inter decided to sell Coutinho 5 days ago. Saints put in a high bid, sounded like 12 million Euros. Inter board met and decided to set a minimum price of 13 million Euros. They asked if Saints wanted to meet that price since they were so close. Saints did not respond.

Today, Liverpool notified Inter that they would meet Inter's minimum requirement of 13 million Euros. Inter are in contact with Saints to see if they will beat it. It seems that Coutinho will be willing to sign for Liverpool.

So not over, but an uphill battle. Doesn't sound like Cortese wants to pay that much. But even if he does, Coutinho can force a move to Liverpool simply by declining to sign with Saints. Unless that DVD is really, really awesome.

If this is true and we did bid for him I would pull out now. Over €13m is crazy money and. Have my doubts he is worth that much atm.
