"Wilfried Zaha: Manchester United set to complete £15m deal"

Interesting adding of a random five million there.

As a fan of a team in the Championship I have seen him play a few times and watched the footie league show a lot.

    In short:

Zaha is ok, too good for the championship but I don't see him becoming a world-beater. Will probably reach around the levels of quality of Ashley Young, I'd guess.

    But I'm no expert.

Cantona. Mainly cos when Eric was 20 he was playing in the French second division.

Seriously, far to early to make those kinds of comparisons.

liverpool logic - let's make a transfer fee up, Zaha cost us 15 million not 20 million.

No different to the utd claim of Henderson £20m, when he was £15m-£16m.

Still, nice to see you go a step further. We like average English 'talent', of championship quality, at a high price. Whereas you just go straight for the Championship.

Nothing wrong with being a championship player if good enough <ok>

However no one could match the catastrophic purchases of Dogleish the buffoon. It is one thing buying players who are found to be overrated and useless (and we have had our share of those!) but another causing the club to have several years of mediocrity because it is now saddled with highly paid useless players who cannot be got rid of. Henderson, Allen, Carroll, Downing anyone?

Zaha is a player for the future, still at least he cost less than Carroll.

This, Zaha won't regret joining us, he's made the right decision, in today's market, the fee we've apid for him is a bargain.

There's a big deal going on twitter that Zaha was wearing an iImogen Thomas t-shirt to his medical, it didn't look like her to be honest.

Besides Matt can anyone say they are arsed about signing a winger from championship club Crystal Palace?

I'm not. Is he even coming to us this window or is he going back on loan basically making this a summer transfer?

I have a feeling Young is off in the summer to be replaced by Young MkII the Zaha edition. We dont need more english players as we have plenty but Young hasnt worked out and would fetch a decent fee from an English club needing to increase their homegrown quota.

More likely it's Nani who will be off - sorry if this causes you any heartache <ok>

I can't say Zaha excites me at all - although that doesn't mean I want him to fail (for the benefit of Matth).

Kingeric - i don't have a problem with you not getting excited about him joining us, i'll try and watch some of Crystal Palace's games over the next 6 months, they'll be live on sky on feburary 8th against Watford.

I've never seen the lad play. The only eye witness report I've had has been from a fan of a Championship side who saw Zaha rip his team a new one. Fergie likes raw players with bags of talent and potential.

    Like Ronaldo.

    And Bebe.

    And Manucho.

    And Diouf.

Just as likely. Even Valencia could go as none have shown any reason to be kept so far this season.

You are probably right, Nani is most likely, closely followed by Young and Valencia is an outside chance.

Thing is out of the 3 only Young seems to be arsed and at least try to improve but his lower quality does him no favours.
