Crystal Palace can today (Friday 25th January) confirm that we have agreed a fee for Wilfried Zaha with Manchester United. Wilfried has agreed personal terms and pending formalities we expect the transfer to be concluded early next week. Wilfried has been immediately loaned back to Crystal Palace for the remainder of the 2012/13 season.

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish said today: “I feel this a great deal for the club and the player. We would like to thank Wilf for all he has done for the club and we all wish him well when he joins Manchester United in the summer. It was essential to Wilf and ourselves that he stayed at Palace for the remainder of this season to help the club with its main aim of promotion to the Premier League.”

Wilfried Zaha said: “I am delighted to be joining Manchester United and ending the recent speculation. I would like to thank the owners at Palace for making the move possible, however my focus for the next five months will be solely at Crystal Palace. I have been at Palace for more than 10 years, I will always love the club and I want to help get them get back to the Premier League, particularly for the fans who have always been so good to me.”

When was he at Arsenal then? before that?

I know what he meant...

Earlier you said he's be the 3rd Arsenal player to play for us, so if he has been at Palace for ten years, how long was he at Arsenal (and at what age) Matth?

Stop picking on Matth <whistle>

You won't like him when he's mad

Th(o)ughts ?

I'm not picking on Matth at all (this time)! I'm genuinely interested.

I couldn't be bothered to research it, and I'm sure Matth knows the info already, he really knows his stuff, hence me asking him. Was Zaha a youngster at Arsenal, and then moved to Palace?

I can't help it, I'm too excited.

The South African football team (Bafana Bafana) just won their first competitive match in about 673 years, it's a minor miracle. <somersault>

My girlfriend is convinced it was match fixing so that the host nation of Afcon gets through to the knockout rounds... <grr> What a patriot she is...

EDIT: Don't knock it until you've tried it <whistle>

EDIT 2: On a totally unrelated note, make sure you always wash your hands very well when you've had hot curry for lunch. :emoticon-0130-devil

I am really surprised at all the excitement surrounding the recruitment of Zaha. How good is he? If we were to compare him to say Cantona, Keane, Scholes or Giggs which player do you think he is closest to?

I am asking because I haven't seen him play...except in that match against us laat year :(
