If Wenger comes out and says nobody was available he needs a slap.

What a suprise. Last week it was "we will add 1 or two players", then it was "we are willing to spend big" and now its “You think we cannot get into the top four as we are now? I think we can.”
If Wenger thinks there's nobody out there that can brought in to improve the squad - he's not the right man for the job. This is our weakest team in years.
We can but it's improbable. However as long as we're in it, we are challenging. Look at the terrible Schalke team that got to the semi final two seasons ago.
Nobody gave us a snowball's chance in hell of winning the ECWC in 1994 but we rode our luck and kept on grinding out the 1-0's
I might bring a more recent example, when we absolutely terrible in the league but went on to make the CL final and create a CL record for clean sheets in the process.
Teams can be worse than Arsenal, but Arsenal have a poor squad, compiled with poor play, poor tactics. At least poorer teams than Arsenal go into games knowing their weak and utilise tactics to make up for it. Not so Arsenal, who think their good enough to match the likes of Madrid and Barca and go out there to play football against them, as Wenger says, we will just go out there and play out football.
Arsenal will never be good enough to defend like Chelsea did in the UCL, we're not strict enough, nor is it embedded into this new philosophy of Wenger.
You really have to be dreaming if you think this Arsenal team can match Barca or Madrid, let's stop living in dream land and start facing reality.
