I don't think I've ever seen a rumour on there which has turned out to be true. Which is amazing really seeing as just about every club gets linked with every player at some point It really is just utter tripe from start to finish.
They are now saying that Paul Benson is joining next week for 50k. It's true that pdc has told him he's got to go as he's on loan at Portsmouth and swindon say they're not giving him away and his loan expires on January 16th. Two unnamed L2 clubs are believed to want him and they are supposidly us and cheltenham. Don't know if cheltenham have got any money though, and swindon won't let him go on a free. The other thing it says on the FR site is that we are giving him a two and a half year deal which seems a bit excessive as he's 33. Also that Austrian striker iscoming on trial during their winter break. Thats all for now, folks
vinney - there are reports outside of the rumours site that have mentioned Paul Benson. Then I noticed gillsconnect use words that believe it is Gillingham or Cheltenham. I hasten to add that other than that report I have seen no link to Gills. The reports I have seen with the exception of FR and gillsconnect have all solely mentioned Cheltenham.

Should have signed Benson a few years back but Scally tryed to get him on the cheap. Still good enough though and will score goals.
I find the comments re Cody very interesting and it makes me feel more genuinely confident that the situation is receiving on going consideration.
I misunderstood this, I thought you meant the member was Cody's agent........ Silly me. No Bobby Bowry is Cody's agent. Although this is what Wiki says about him: "He is now believed to be a football agent, with Cody McDonald and Glenn Murray on his books, though he does not appear on the FA or FIFA registered agents lists.[6] [edit]" If he's not a registered agent I didn't think you could do business in the UK??? Can't say I'm sure though.
I think we need to sort something out, although I do not think Benson is the resolution to our problems. No point in having the movement and agility of Weston, Payne and Fish if we keep sticking lumps up front. Kedwell and Burton already have a role to play but as an out and out goal scorers, no. This was the missing link yesterday, apart from our defenders tripping over one another. So we need to bring another striker in if MA is not going to trust in Birchall or one of the other young lads.
Like or loath him, I thought Hughes was very good and led the line well. You can see why MA wanted him. I thought Purse was quite good as well. Two good signings by Vale and they will be there or thereabouts come the end. Thats why we need a centre forward who can score goals like Hughes has all his career. Don't know if cody is that type though,but Benson is
I mentioned Benson to a Charlton fan that I gave a lift to yesterday (long story) but he laughed when I mentioned Benson, followed by the words 'good luck with that' - I sensed a tone of sarcasm.
I thought Hughes was poor yesterday and am delighted he did not sign for us. His behaviour on the pitch also confirmed all the reasons I despise him.
