Its kinda ridiculous how excited Arsenal fans get over these transfer rumours.(mainly because most windows in recent years have been mainly dominated by bad news) Anyways looking at some of those original Targets. Theo Walcott - Still Not signed.(rumoured to happen today) Wenger has indicated he wont be signing anyone until this is done. As always this is taking Arsenal forever to complete. Demba Ba - Has signed for Chelsea. Huntelaar - Signed an extension at Schalke - is not leaving. Holtby - Signed for our rivals. Zaha - United have made a formal enquiry. M'Vila - Rennes have confirmed they have received NO interest from Arsenal. QPR have launched a bid. (only £6.5m!..seriously?! what is Wenger waiting for?) Llorente - Rumoured to be talking to Juventus. Not looking good at all.
I still think he's got a part to play. I was surprised he hasn't been used recently, but maybe Ramsey offers more physically in a small midfield with Wilshere and Cazorla ? I think Eisfeld could be a very good player for us in the future. I'm split on whether we should be looking to bring in another creative attacking MF player, it would be nice if we could do it I suppose
How many of those are actual targets as opposed to Newspaper speculation though ? Fans mainly seem to end up disappointed because they believe the rubbish they read in the rags and then slate Wenger when he doesn't buy them, when in fact he was never in for them in the first place . .
They are rumours that any of the players <except for Walcott> you have mentioned are or were targets.
That's right and if you go back over the last 39 pages you will see that they have all been thoroughly discussed in this thread. We dont know who Wenger intends to bring in perhaps no-one, despite what he has told the press and fans. Would'nt be the first time, he's completely contradicted himself.
How many of them were actual targets? Nobody knows. How many of them are we annoyed that Wenger didn't get? A few. The real question here is, if Arsenal weren't in for them, then why not? Wenger has said he'll look to being in "one or two" after Theo is tied up. A DM doesn't rely on Theo being tied up, a DM is needed if Frimpong and Coquelin are deemed not of high enough standard.
The quote about waiting for Theo to sign up could be a red herring.How many times has Wenger denied being interested in a player before we have signed him.The truth is none of us knows what happens at the club that is why we speculate,read newspaper gossip and read and post on forums. I honestly think we need a DM because i don't think Frimpong & Coquelin are good enough.Frimpong even got sent off for the U21's yesterday.
No my point is that if we were'nt discussing rumours this thread would'nt exist. Its not like we can actually know what Wenger is thinking/planning.
I don't think we actually have any targets. It's all rumours in this transfer window. When Wenger talked about bringing some new players in I'm pretty sure he meant from the bench and not actuall purchases from other clubs.
M'vila has handed in a transfer request. Will be available for 7 Million. Now wait for Wenger to say we have Diaby and therefore do not need to buy a new player in DM.
