Anyone else think Benitez is down to his last life already? Abramovich's answer to most things is sack and/or spend but I'm not so sure spending big on players when a new manager is coming in, in the summer is a good idea. Then again what top manager would want to come to the Bridge if they're only going to get a couple of months to get things right or face the sack too? Abramovich has made a right mess of things for himself.
It's potentially a hole that money can't get them out of. Should be very interesting to see what's instore for them for the rest of the season. The only thing is that Mourinho might enjoy coming back on big money at Chelsea but otherthan that, I think most managers would rather stay put if they're going well. At this rate Abramovich might sack Benitez and find that only 2 CVs on his desk, Curbishley and Sven.
Whoever comes in, I think Abramovich is an autocrat who wants things done his way. He sacked Mourinho because despite them winning the title, he wanted 'sexy' football. He sacked AVB without even giving him a chance. He sacked Di Mateo because despite him winning the CL, he wanted . . . Rafa He's insisting on playing his £50m 'gem' in Torres, despite the fact that Torres is no longer good enough at the top level. He did it with Shevchenko too. I know they'd still be a midtable yo-yo club without the Oil Baron's money, but Abramovich is a classic case of a chairman who has far too much influence over the manager and team. I love it
I was at the Saints v Chavs match, last Saturday, when Saints put out a make-shift team and got trounced for their troubles. But, despite Chavs' 1-5 score-line, I wasn't that impressed with Chelsea. I put it down to them not having to try (what with Saints making life so easy for them), but them coming unstuck at home to Swansea proves just how difficult Coco is going to find the next 4 months. He was brought in specifically to get Torres playing (RDM having given up on him and having got sacked for it), so dropping him permanently to the bench simply isn't an option. I really do think CFC are there for the taking, at the moment. I'm sure that AVB is loving every moment of it, although he is far too much of a gent to admit to it.
I saw the goals and nobody could have missed Ba's first,it was simplicity itself. Did his second come off the defender's leg I don't know but Chelsea fans shouldn't rave on about Ba because of his first match.
McCarthy took over at Ipswich a couple of weeks ago. Ivanovic had a stinker, not just the errors, his passing was off anyway, and as for Torres, its the same face as that bloke I saw at Liverpool, but blimey he's becoming a Spanish version of Emile Heskey! Benitez kept them on the pitch too long. Ba was level imo, the *** paper in it should favour the striker, but its such a shame it wasn't given! Chelsea aren't out of it yet though, an early goal and it all changes.
Jesus! There really will be no one left for CFC when Coco is sacked, will there! That's because Mad Dog will sack him the minute he cottons on to the fact that Coco intends to do what RDM did (and what any sensible professional football manager would do), and bench Torres for being the waste of space that he has become. Even the Chavs have turned against him, in droves.
District,EVERYBODY except you Chavs has forgotten that you won the CL because you were kicked out so early. Stop bringing up past glories,it just shows your desperation. Kicked out of the EL soon too ay?
Maybe Swansea should change the name of their ground to Old Tafford just for the return leg.It sounds so near to Old Trafford that it'll scare the chavs to death even before a ball is kicked. Swansea will do a Chelsea ie soak up a lot of pressure and then catch them on the break. Come on you Taffs.
It's going to be tough for the Chav's.the top team's have struggled there this season,United only scrapped a draw there
