What do we think to this article? http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/Sport.cfm?id=617&headline=Berylson:

Did we need to blitz Millwalls offer in order for him to pick us over them? Another player on £20k is surely not what we wanted to do i think. Fine player though.

It's silly money, nearly as silly as some of our hangover players (McShane, Oli). I'm surprised NP got into a bidding war, I thought of him more to be a "take it or leave it" kind of guy.

Its a load of rubbish

Millwall have already said they matched our bid on every level just that Wood choose us. Now they are trying to save face

Its money well spent if he can score every week <ok> and its still less than Beckfords wages.

Its more than likely a made up figure by a bitter Millwall journalist, although i have no doubt that we bettered their wages.

Pearson will only pay players what they are worth, see Mills and Beckford for examples of "waste of wages".

He has tried to move on the high earners... so when he says "nearly £20k" i imagine thats above £15k, which is what you pay for a top championship striker in demand.

^This - the article makes it seem that NP and the Millwall manager were in one room making bids like an auction which is rubbish.

sorry, poor puncuation. It should say Wood's Wages.

Im not on the 'Chris Woods" brigade, though i think that is now slowing.

Can't see the wood for the ...

... actually it's irrelevant .. if his goals fire us to promotion it will be seen as money very well spent (in terms of the rewards of being a Prem club) .. if not, hey ho .. that's life

They lied in a bid to make out Millwall would pay stupid money for the right player, maybe next time we loan a player from someone we will iron out a price for them, should we want to sign him permanently, if its just a loan to get them back on track they should state so, so we don't have a bidding war that we'll never win.
