How can it be a done deal when we haven't submitted an offer. Anyone else heard that we are trying to get him on loan?

I mean jesus wept if that's true. I really can't wait to see the back of Llambias.

I think they're trying to pull off what they tried with Debuchy in summer.

Travel to France, speak with his people and try to ascertain if he wants to come. Sell him the club and the lure of our French contingency, agree terms 'in principle' etc but make no bid at all or one that is derisory.

Essentially try to unsettle the player and get his heart set on the move so Marseille have to accept OUR price, probably right at the end of the window.

Or absolutely not at all like we all know full well WILL happen. "Oh well we tried, but the January window is such a difficult one to get value at the right price... blah, blah blah."

The only people they are kidding are themselves as with no replacement striker we'll go down!

There's been quite a few waiting for that ever since he came into the club.

Apparently Remy is going to bide his time before making a decision....
If I were Mike I'd say... you have until Sunday to be on a plane otherwise we will end our interest.
We cannot afford to play the waiting game with this lad and risk losing momentum with other players.

I think you're right on this. We're too desperate to be driving a hard bargain or playing who-blinks-first with Remy. If he doesn't want to sign, fine, we'll just have to look elsewhere. Otherwise this will undoubtedly put a major dent on our much-needed plans to get in A CB AS WELL in this window, with the board giving the typical excuses again at the end of it.

Yep. I agree. He has the chance to join a quality PL side, with plenty of French speaking players to make him feel comfortable, and the chance to earn 50k a week.

A bid is imminent?

Loic Remy could be at Newcastle before long

NEWCASTLE are poised to make a bid for Marseille forward Loic Remy.
Reports in recent weeks have been awash with speculation surrounding Remy, with the player apparently rejecting a move to Premier League side QPR.

Schalke and Borussia Dortmund have been in contact with Marseille officials about Remy, but Newcastle are confident they can secure a deal.

The Magpies are anxious to secure a replacement for their talisman, Demba Ba, who moved to Chelsea at the end of last week.

Newcastle could launch a bid in the next 24 hours
French publication La Provence has it that Newcastle could launch a bid in the next 24 hours and that the bid is likely to be in the region of £9m.

In the meantime, Newcastle will be forced to play the waiting game as Remy doesn’t mind dragging out negotiations until the final day of the transfer window.

Remy has only managed three goals for Marseille in Ligue 1 so far this season.

No he didn't. His last post was bigging himself up for winning player of the month.

Mick Lowes claims NUFC have at least 2 players in the latter stages of negotiations. And actually said "at least 2".

Oh yes he did

"@Joey7Barton: @JackRedshaw think he's decided to stay put mate. Were all happy as he's a big player for us and were trying to win the league..."

Does anyone have a suspicion that this is a smokescreen and we're lining up someone else?

For example, Chamakh went to West Ham on loan, which may mean AC is no longer wanted there....or am i just acting like a cheap journalist and making stories from nothing?

The AC thought is Sun journalism at its best.

On the other hand, it would be entirely in keeping with Carr's greatest hits for us to sign some little known, world famous prospect that none of us saw coming.

I heard we were back in for maiga..hehe

im thinking with this Remy situation, maybe the Ba sale will help us in that Remy will see a player come to us, do well , then go on to play for the european champions. Cynical way to look at it but thats the way it goes these days.
