"Djourou has never been anything but solid"

... wtf?

when played at centre back, that has always been true. he was terrible at RB, but thats not his position. even TV, who can apparently play there, is dreadful at LB. u can't expect players to be on the best when out of position.

My opinion of the wages at Arsenal (and I have never seen any evidence to assume different) is that they handle them like any respectable company. The board establishes how many positions (stars, senior players, squad players etc...) that Wenger can have and the pay ranges that he can give them. It is then his job to allocate players to those positions and decide where in the pay range they fall, within an overal budget.

I have no evidence or tangible basis for this opinion except that this is the way most companies handle wages. Given how Arsenal conduct the rest of their business I see no reason why they would do anything other than what is considered normal and sensible in the rest of the corporate world.

I am not sure how this relates to socialism except that it does mean that all players in a category are considered equal.

Probably because the wages difference between categories is much less than with other clubs. We have clubs where best players get over 100+K and many squad players are on 15K. With Arsenal the difference is much less. That is what socialism is about - you get 2K a month and if you work really really well and got promoted to the seniour position you will get a whopping 5% raise.
Arsene thinks it creates a better atmosphere in the team. I think that was part of his bigger idea of keeping players together , let them grow as a team for several years etc.. As we all know it has spectacularly failed. I would say the whole idea of millionaires socialism is ridiculous. We are not talking about guys who struggle with their mortgages or childcare. I heard EPL managers just laughed when they were told how much Bendtner gets. Same with Denilson and many other players. It just distorts the market. We can not attract the best and unable to shift the deadwood.

Are you talking about Djourou the defender who said once that more than anything he llikes to pamper himself with creams?

Rumour on twitter saying we're signing Eduardo Vargas, the Napoli and Chile forward.

Absolute BS though. He's currently on the Napoli bench. Worst twitter rumour ever.

Would not mind James McCarthy at all, can play DM & in thε back four, I seriously rate him a bit higher than Ramsey

Mcarthy would be a great signing, is very strong and good in a tackle, also a very good passer of the ball, kind of plays the same sort of role as arteta, and would be a good long term replacement

I'd rather Ramsey than McCarthy. And isn't Mcarthur the more defensive Wigan player, not McCarthy?

Id have him over ramsey any day of the week, and im not one of the people who slate ramsey either, just think mcarthy is a superior player, and is more of a defensive player.

Wenger himself says it's socialist in that they keep they try to have all of the players on very similar wages. If you're in the first team you're paid decent.

Man City for example reward their strikers & marketable stars with bumper deals. Man Utds first team will range from 20 or 30k for the newer players to 250 for Rooney & RvP etc.

Arsenal have almost all of their players in the 50 - 90 bracket. Too much for the youngsters so they're not able to move them on, too little for the top end stars so they can't keep them, in my humble opinion.

It doesn't seem to me so much that this more 'socialist' pay system doesn't work, more that it doesn't work in isolation. Trotsky would agree with me here <ok>

Some idiot moaning about the Clichy sale:
our attacking left back was in the prime of his life, although he hardly scored he assisted in many goals. Was considered by many to be the best lb in the country, he ended up leaving arsenal in search of silver wear. He is now linking up with Nasri and toure in man city.
<rofl> <laugh> <doh>

When he first came into the team in 2004 a lot of fans and pundits were saying that he would be better than Ashley Cole.He was very good for a few seasons but his game regressed as time went on.

He started well, but by the time of his sale he was absolute garbage. Other than this guy, you won't find many people outraged at his sale.
