I'm not going to dissect your fees there, but all of that and more were covered by sales.
When did we sign Southgate, by the way?

I think you'll find that in both cases it's the main symptom Comolli-itis. We recovered from it well and you're trying to do the same.

at the end of the day a LOT of clubs make a LOT of bad signings.

Mourninho made loads. City made loads. Fergie made loads. Spurs and Liverpool made loads.

Banter and how much the media likes your manager usually ends up deciding whether or not it gets buried and ignored or bleated on about endlessly.

I haven't a clue why Liverpool are being discussed on these boards.
I think Liverpool is a dump. The Mersey is a sewer and their football team should be tossed in it!

    Everton?Now that's a good team!

  7. You make some interesting points, BigSmithy, and your argument carries a certain degree of force.

Hendo has certainly shown lots of signs web played centrally. He'll never be Gerrard, but he'll be a Scott Parker sort of player eventually.

Lucas and Allen probably will be the pairing v United... Lucas' return from injury has seen Hendo come in to form and Allen has been given a bit of rest. But they are probably the first house pair, with Gerrard sitting as a dep play maker as he has done the past month.

When did Woodgate morph into Southgate? Shame for Woody, just when you thought you couldn't get any uglier!

  13. 'Pool is having a hard time breaking-down their lowly opponents, and I am as surprised as the Mousers must be despairing that they are only a goal up at half-time.

There's little doubt that 'Pool will win this tie, but the Mousers cannot be happy with the way that 'Pool seems to be struggling.

Well done to Liverpool for cheating their way past Mansfield. Some may say Suarez is out of order for such odious cheating against a poor side like Mansfield but you have to remember, Liverpool aren't very good either.

  15. Yes, Mousers will be united in their joy, as they dance on the streets of Merseyside, tonight, but the score-line does not tell the entire story, because the mighty Liverpool had to cheat in order to finish off their lowly Championship opposition. It was a game that will live long in infamy, and represents yet another mark of shame in 'Pool's descent into disgrace.

I won't blame the Mousers for celebrating their win. At times, they were barely able to match their Championship opponents, and the possibility of being humiliated (as they were last season against Brentford Town), looked a real possibility. They were fortunate that their manager, Roy Rodgers, knows all about playing in the Championship, having plied his trade there up until two seasons ago, and it is more than likely that that he will have versed his players in how to con their way to victory.

So, well done to 'Pool. You're through to the 4th Round. Winning's all that matters, right?

  16. Just read this in the BBC match report:-

"Boos ring around Field Mill as Suarez cheekily kisses his hand in front of the away fans."

Utterly unbelievable! Goofy went over to the visiting Mousers and kissed the hand that he used to help him score the goal!

If I didn't know it before, I know it now, that this is a man who knows absolutely no shame.

Liverpool`s never ending run of good fortune with referees continues as a sympathetic Andre Marriner allows a blatant hand ball to assist the bin dippers winner.

The recent repetitive favourable treatment of Mouser players and Dirty Suarez in particular shows that Liverpool still reap a certain amount of sentimentality amongst Football Association referees, and are second only to Man Utd when it comes to being given favourable decisions.

Can they get past Oldham next and their ex-Everton wonder kid Jose Baxter? Very doubtful.

It does present an interesting case study, though - will people bang on about it afterwards? On the one hand England fans bang on about the Hand of God, on the other Henry's handball against Ireland and Suarez's against Ghana are faintly remembered only a couple of years on, whilst we're supposed not to have noticed Paul Scholes regularly trying to punch the ball in over the years.
